ig ot a question.
my weimaraner is,... well not very good with other dogs,.. what i mean by that is,.. when i'mout walking with the dog,.. and God forbid he sees another dog close by,.. he goes crazy.. barking, growling, jumoing, pulling me,..
i tried being firm with him, and tried keeping my cool, but it doesn't seem to help much, it scares my wife when he does this, she's scared to take the dog anywhere with us now. and she's too scared to walk the dog too.
it doesn't acre me,.. but it frusterates the hell out of me,.. what should i do?
on a side note: he does exxellent with my other dog (chiwawa) and with my brother's two dogs. (chocolate lab and german wirehair).
i was thinking that maybe he think that he has to protect us from dog he doesn't know, or something like that... :dunno:

if he is fine at liberty with other dogs then its something to do with being leashed and needing to dominate the situation, some retraining is probably in order to let him know you got this and are in control and he can "stand down".
Cesar Milan probably has plenty of great ideas for you ;) :chuckle: I'm sure the resident dog experts will be along with ideas anytime now....

Is he on a leash when doing this?
-
lol ya. now that you mention it, he only gets violent with other dogs when i have him on a leash. i never noticed this because i let him run free when i'm at my brothers place so he does good with his dogs.

I have heard of several dogs being that way on the leash.

Thats funny, I actually watched Cesar deal with the same problem on one of his shows. I would go seek profesional help.

Biginner: Look up Larry Thurman @ Whyne Country Kennels he is in the Tri-City area His background is in Weims. if any one can help you he can.
Taking on a older "free" dog is a good thing and thank you for doing so. However, you are also taking on someone else training or lack there of. Its a uphill battle but it sounds like your headed in the right direction.

Dogs are more apt to become aggressive when theyre chained up all day as opposed to just kenneled. just thought that was interesting. :twocents:

THE ONLY TIME I HAVE A ROPE ON MY DOG IS A LEASH WHEN WE GO FOR WALKS OR A CHECK CORD WHEN TRAINING. I NEVER CHAIN MY DOGS UP. THEY HAVE A NICE 15 x 8 KENNEL.

OH, AND ALSO.. HE'S NO AGRESSIVE. HE'S THE MOST GENTAL DOG EVER. HE PLAYS WITH MY YEAR OLD KID ALL TIME. HE JUST GOES CRAZY WHEN WE ENCOUNTER DOG WHILE HE'S ON A LEASH.
