Went out today to my 'bearadise' as I like to call it. Three weeks ago, there was no sign. Today was a different story.
I hiked into the same area I shot my spring bear a few years back....sit down..bout 10 minutes later I hear a big "POP!"...along with some rustling....it was close, but I couldnt see what made the noise...sounded bearish to me...
wait bout 5-10 minutes...didnt hear anything else, so I thought I would check it out. Bout 40 yards away, (through some brush) Bear had snapped a grand fir at about the 6ft mark in half. See pics.
The other bear peels happened within 2 hours of me passing and were all within 50 -70 yards of each other... they werent there on my way in...
So, lots of sign....saw 5 deer...never did get to see the bears though...
Good luck!

That's really cool, I hope to see some of the same stuff when I head out scouting.

Just something to keep in the back of your mind. Your glove is laying on bear poop right where you'll wipe your nose next time the wind starts blowing and your getting chilly. :chuckle:
Cool pics, too!

:yeah: I put my cameras out two weeks ago and the three piles of bear scat I saw all had fawn hair in them.

Went out this afternoon and hiked 5 miles. Poked my head in and out of the brush looking for peels. Nothing. :bash:. Since the season started i have seen 2 bears, but I think this is the worst spring to draw a tag weather wise. Im glad i did though, Im getting a jump on getting in shape. Still have a few more days. I did see a million slugs, and one Salamander on the road.

I heard the damage control guys have been stacking a few this past week in both Snohomish and Skagit countys.
-
Went out all day yesterday with my brother in Skagit area....saw some fresh poop, one new peel and lots old.
7 elk
2 deer
2 yotes (one I called in)
a few frogs...
no bear.
Frankly, I was quite surprised at the lack of sign. Im sure they're out there though. I did wave high to a trail camera though... :hello:

hiked into the granite side, was able to glass a sow with a single cub on the move, not able to get the camera out in time. >:( saw some promising sign, wish I had a tag this year
