I am mad as hell! >:( I just got back from checking my 4 trail cameras and 2 of the 4 were stolen. Luckily, my cheap wildview got a picture of the guy. I hope some of my forum friends can help ID this jerk. I used to lock up all my cameras but figured this spot was pretty covert and didn't need to worry. I was wrong. :'( From now on all my cameras will be locked.
I will probably not get my cameras back. I will lock all them up next time. To avoid this kind of frustration I hope my HuntWA forum trail camera addicts will do the same :twocents:

If you have any ideas on who this guy is please PM me.

Hmm... looks like Xtra-Tuf rubber boots and brown Carhartt pants? Appears to be a hunter. Kind of hard to identify someone just from a picture of their backside though. Can you say the general area this was?
-
I know who it is... A TRUE AS@#!$HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!! :bash: :bdid:
-
could he just be walking by....
-
Sorry to hear that you lost yor cams!! That really sucks.Soome people have no respect for other peoples property.
-
could he just be walking by....
That was my thought. Sorry to hear about the camera's.
-
Oh boy get ready for the bashing from some of these guys for.... how they say it.... Crying over your stolen camera that you left out in the public! Man, what did you expect leaving money hanging on a tree.... Maby it was, G.....well I don't want to go there. Sorry you had some a hole take your stuff, it sure happens a lot and thats why I don't spend the money on one. I hope you find out who did it, in a sucluded area like that I'm sure it's a spot he likes to be in and not just a drive-by. You'll probably see him out there again but probably not for a while. Good luck.

Its pot growing season ...guy does not have a gun so why would he be there in the first place and how did he find your cameras so easy ??

Hes probably scoutin?

Its pot growing season ...guy does not have a gun so why would he be there in the first place and how did he find your cameras so easy ??
So he has gone from a trail walker, to thief, to drug grower??? Come on guys, you all sound like a bunch of women! Dont want stuff stolen, lock them up, or dont use them on public land.
Sorry to hear SOMEONE stole your s#@%, but i dont see any cameras in his hand.....
-
yeah the cameras that got stolen might have someone completely different on them
-
The banter is pretty funny, but it looks like my camera in his backpack! That's all I know. True, he could be walking by and just scouting. There isn't a pot grow going on. I basically live back there and know every tree.
I know that I should have locked it, but bolt cutters would be used to cut the lock. If someone wants a camera or anything else they will find a way to get it.
I am sure I will cross paths with this guy. I know my cameras had good deer pictures. Last year at this same time I had some huge deer on them. Check my previous posts.
If you have any ideas on who this could be based on his clothes, boots, then please PM or tell him to put the cameras back. The general area is Thurston County.
-
That sucks.

I don't get the logic in the "guy does not have a gun so why would he be there in the first place" part...
I go in the woods all the time without a gun.

THATS A CHICK!!! :yike:

Always carry a gun. You may need one to protect yourself from those that accuse you of stealing their camera.
-
Man, that's not a very flattering picture of my ass!

Every day I appreciate this site more and more. I never thought of that, thanks CP.
Carry on.

Jeez, the guy got his stuff stolen and was wondering if someone knew the guy in the picture. If the guy didn't do it, then he didn't do it. No need to be talking tough about it. If the guy is identified then he will likely deny it but he'll know that someone is going to know his face in an area so hopefully he doesn't do it again.
He probably should have locked them up but he admitted that. I have no problem about him asking if anyone knew this guy...Although I don't think he's going to get his cameras back and hopefully no one resorts to violence. If you don't know who it is then you don't know. No reason to give this guy a bunch of sh*t about it.
Anyway, good luck with the cameras. I don't hang out in Thurston County so can't help.
-
LOOKS LIKE A TRAIL CAM IN THE BACK POCKET OF THE BACKPACK :yike:
-
LOOKS LIKE A TRAIL CAM IN THE BACK POCKET OF THE BACKPACK :yike:
Yep! BTW...I will not resort to violence. Unlike a lot of people I will not stoop to the level of the culprit that stole my camera. Even though I would like to. Just because I have a picture of someone in the area does not mean he is the thief. However, he is only 40 yards from the where to the stolen camera was and it was not on a heavily traveled trail.
-
Did you have 2 cam's there or did he leave you the card or something?
-
I had 4 cameras out total. He just walked passed the one that took the picture. If he saw it I am sure he would have stole it.
-
All you can do is speculate on what this guy did. Thats all i was saying
You can make sure thats your cam??You can prove he dosent have a gun, so he's growing pot? Now i bet im the culprit because im bringing up facts.....
Like i said, sorry you got robbed, but you cant prove he did anything.
-
Thats a tough call. Innocent until proven guilty I guess. Sucks that your cam got nabbed. Looks like a remote area and you probably put it there since there would be minimal traffic if any. To bad the other cam didn't get a shot of the theft in process....would have been the clincher. Glad you still have the others.
-
This is about as bad as the orange police for hunting pics :chuckle:
-
I know who it is... A TRUE AS@#!$HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!! :bash: :bdid:
:yeah:
-
There are many ways to look at this. I have an idea on how to solve this problem...so stay tuned. True, there is no direct evidence to prove the guy in the picture was the actual thief. I think he was and that is purely my opinion. He has camo on and a camo pack the looks to have my camera in the back pocket. That could be his camera, but that is one crazy coincidence for him to have the same style of camera.
-
One way to try to find the thief is to put up a cam overlooking the possible parking area to reach your area. Of course you'd want to have the cam in a lock box. It would be cool to get a front pic of him and a pic of his vehicle.
-
Thief!! but apparently to some on this sight if you cannot prove it it is o.k. Love the entertainment sometimes other times it is just downright pitiful some of the posts.
-
its a damn shame that we have reached a time that a fella cant even go out in the damn woods and put up a trailcam and have it stolen, this is completly fricken sad, people like that make me sick and i would love to be the one who gets to cut a thiefs hands off, which is the best thing for them, and its also pretty fricken sad when a guy asks us if we happen to recognize him and he gets attacked, lilswab, soory your cameras got RIPPED THE HELL OFF, BY SOME ASS, and guess what i would bet that the guy in the pic is the damn thief, hope you find out who he is and break his hands for him, piece of crap thieves, dude i had my northwood stolen from my house, drove right through my steel gate cut the lock off my boat and took the whole damn thing all i got back was the hull and trailor they even took the boat plug, but i guess its my fault it got stolen because i didnt have it parked inside my living room

I'd like to see some places where folks have said it is okay to steal cameras? I certainly can't think of one.....I agree that it is sad that we can't leave a cam out without it having a good chance it will get stolen by another hunter or a bunny hugger. Yep, it looks like he/she could be your thief, I agree. However, without proof of some kind it is hopeless.
-
I love all the controversy, and I have not even posted yet :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
Bummer about you camera, truly a bummer.
-
Just no more up close pics please. Still haven't eaten a full meal since!
-
I like how people put words in others' mouths! Never said it was ok to steal, and I never attacked him(the owner of the cams), i attacked all you that are guessing who, and what the guy in the pic is doing....
Set him up with other cameras, i think thats the only way you can get him/her.
-
THATS A CHICK!!! :yike:
after closer examination I do believe you are correct

Thought the same thing. If it is, might be a little easier to track down. Any footprints in the area...smaller than normal with a shorter stride?
-
that sucks, but its time to get some climbing gear and put your cams up higher in the tree.
god knows if i had money to waste on a cam, i would never leave it in any public forest land where anyone can go in and swipe it.

Jackmaster! Did we just become best friends? Good post and point. Even though I do enjoy all the other forum banter.

DAMN SKIPPY, a little backwoods court house would be the perfect court for that jackwagon, play the clown a little simple man by charlie daniels before we go to work on him or her....

I have two tree stands in the woods,I expect them to get ripped off,so I bought cheap ones...that way I'm not to pissed when they do...That doesn't mean I think its OK for a thief to take them...Sadly that is where the world has come to.
everyone thinks they have a secret place, well there isn't any,I find these secret places, and I'm sure my pic has been taken. But that don't make me the thief if it was taken...If I were a thief the camera that took his pic would have been taken also, they don't hide that well...I find a lot of them....If your going back and forth to check a camera,or to bait you are leaving a trail,no matter how crafty one thinks they are...any critters coming to a bait also leave a trail, sometimes many trails leading there....all that being said,if I found a pic of me on the net and someone said I was the thief because I walked by your camera,I would be inclined to treat the accuser as I would a thief..hope you figure it out,I been ripped off many times nobody hates a thief more than I.
-
well said friend
-
I have four trail cameras out right now, and this weekend I'll make that five. I won't be too surprised if one decides to walk away, and that's why I have cheap cameras. I paid $40 each for two of them, $30 for another, another was a used camera from eBay for about $60, and another is an $80 camera that I got as a gift. If one disappears, I will probably be more disappointed about the loss of the memory card with whatever pictures are on it, than the actual camera. It's just the "cost of doing business." Oh, and I don't lock up any of my cameras. It doesn't seem worth it to me to spend more on a lock and a lock box than I paid for the camera. I am particular about where I set them up though- I'm careful to only place them on obscure trails where people aren't likely to be.
-
yeah I try to get into areas where the brush is so prickly and stickery that no one in there right mind would go otherwise. This would be about a quarter mile from any skid road or about a mile from a mainline
-

It is sad that you expect to get ripped off. I don't expect to get ripped off. I expect to see pictures of deer. I expect my property to be left alone. I don't own extremely expensive cameras, but they are pretty nice for what I can afford. The camera that took the picture of the "Thief" and yes I will call him that because I see my camera in his pack, is the cheapest camera I own and as you can see he is walking away from it and that is why it wasn't stolen. It is a coincidence that one the my cameras was stolen and I also got a picture of someone with my camera in his pack! :yike: this is too much of a coincidence to ignore.
:dunno: I would be inclined to treat the accuser as I would a thief :dunno:
What does this mean?
I did not steal anything. I am a sportsman and I am fair minded. There is a possiblity that this guy could not be the thief. But the fact that he his less than 40yards from the stolen camera and has the camera is his pack is too much to ignore. Thanks for adding your :twocents: It its said that this is what our world has come to.
How would you deal with this situation?
-
I learned my lesson with some crayfish traps
don't know what makes me madder, the traps I lost or the crayfish inside them...I just KNOW them traps were stuffed to the gills with big fat crawdads
>:(

watch your local craigslist for your cam to pop up on. Its turned into the modern day pawn shop for theives.
-
lilswab, i can promise you this, if someone broke into these guys houses and stole a few items they would be singing a different tune, now they are all gonna say "oh thats different, its was in my house not in the woods," well it doesnt matter where your stuff gets stolen its the principal of the thing, people need to keep their dick beaters off of other peoples stuff, its that simple, that guy in the damn picture is the thief and we all know it, there just has to be people on here that have to make it a real pain by saying "oh it could be a passer by" B.S thats the *censored* that stole it, lilswab, here is what you can do, start booby trapn your cameras, that way when a guy is gimpn away with a blown off arm there will be no doubt to who the would be thief is........ :chuckle: that would be sweet..
