Finally was able to close the deal on a bear. after many days and countless hours and miles hiking scouting and glassing. found a nice cinnamon bear had him in my crosshairs night before last but wouldn't give me a clear shot so i decided to hold out for him to step clear he never did and darkness fell so home i went once again empty handed. decided to go give it another try yesterday after work ran up to same spot hiked in and continued to glass and hike around and as evening approached i settled down same area i saw him and waited and to my shock and surprise there he was. slowly milling around this time i got set up and as soon as he stepped clear i dropped the hammer on him. he went about 5 yards and expired. what a great cinnamon color bear

Man that was worth the wait that is a beauty.
-
his coat is a little thin but flawless besides that now the question is half mount or rug??? any suggestions out there and any highly rec taxidermist ???
-
Nice looking bear.
-
I like half mounts personally. Might be what we do if my wife kills her bear this week.
-
I think he'd look awesome as a 3/4 mount. Paws down a bit and the lower lip hanging just a bit. No snarling pose whatever mount you decide. :twocents:
-
That's a nice one! glad to see that someone was able to pull the trigger in the Monroe are. The only thing I have been able to find is where they been.

I really like the bear with the salmon look like i saw on mounted in alaska , and you could prob get away with a half mount on it too. Just brings alot of color to the mount!

Congrats!

Congrats on the bear. I've killed a few and if it's big I'd do a full mount but save that for a really big bear, it's too expensive for just any bear. Most of the bears I've shot that are just average size I have made into just the hair on tan, I think they look sweet just thrown over the side of the couch or chair. And the hair on tan is affordable.

Right on way to get it done

Awesome! :IBCOOL:

Dandy bear. Are you going to do a shoulder mount?

took the bear in a rod at rods taxidermy rod says he was 6 years old and measured to be a 6.5 footer by far my best bear definitely a long life dream to get a color phase bear guess hes way more chocolate than a cinnamon but his hide is absolutely perfect with no rubs or bald spots gonna be a long wait for him to come back from the taxidermy cant wait for this full life size mount to be in my house for a life time of enjoyment and memory's. thanks to everyone for the great words of support and encouragement

That is real dandy. I hope it's not the bear I was after last year out by Monroe. I saw a large chocolate color bear twice, but wasn't able to get a good shot at it. I was hoping it would still be around this fall. Anyway congrats on a great bear.
