Had a German Sheperd for the last 15 years named "Ruger". He passed earlier this year.
That is a great looking point, by the way.

You will have to let us know how he does, that is a great looking dog and point. I have always been skeptical about training/breeding a dog for traits that are not natural to them. That being said, I have heard nothing but good things about pointing labs from what I have read and their owners. Good luck this upcoming season. I am worried that all of the flooding is going to hurt the pheasant crop this year, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

He looks alot bigger since the last time I saw him!!

If the link doesn't work you see more of ruger at cooke canyon hunt clubs website. When Ruger was a baby (8 weeks old) He would lock up and hold his point. So this trait is natural. They are referred to as "natural pointing labs". All of is family tree are pointing labs. Pretty strange to see,but boy when he gets on the bird he locks right up and stays put till I flushed the birds. Not cheap training but I think it will be cool to hunt over him. He is only just over one year old so we still have lots of time to fine tune this hunting machine. Hey Kieth ruger is about 70 lbs now so he is about 2 times as big as the last time you saw him. We will see you over for the opener should be on strike by then. Thanks fellas for the comments
