any good?
wondering if anyone has used them and if they were happy.

I live about 1/4 mile from Dan and he runs a great kennel and his results speak for themselves. Super nice guy to deal with.
-
My buddy bought a gsp from them the dog ended up having alergies to basiclly everything he hunted him in. the dog would break out in a rash all over his underbelly and legs. damdest thing, probablly just isolated to that dog im not sure

Had Dan work with my chocolate lab when she was a pup. I was deploying and knew i would be gone along time. When I came home he had her sit and tossed live birds at her. She didnt flinch..... I was pretty impressed. Today when i put her on that leather collar I bought from her sher is in the zone. I have heard alot of good about Dan and his kennel.

It was probably food allergies. They are called hot spots. Some dogs have them and are sensitive to the foods they eat. Our Chihuahua's get them if they eat the wrong type of food.

Is your question about........ training? or buying a pup?

Just training
my britt, if she ever gets over her ailment, has some catching up to do.

Ive heard very good things about Dan Dunfur. But, if you have a brit you might look into taking it to Dave Walker in Idaho. You won't find a better Brittany trainer in the U.S.. He used to campaign Brits on the Trial circuit and he is very, very good.

It's Dan Hoke at Dunfur kennels ;)

Ya that.. haha.. Thats what I meant to say.

I had my GSP with Dan for three months of training back in 1998, and I was happy with what he did with him in that short time. I never did any more training after that, but if I would have had the money, I definitely would have taken him back to Dan. It would have been nice to have a more fully trained dog and to have more control, rather than just following a dog that is hunting where he wants, and how he wants. But my dog was only seven months old when I brought him to Dan, and I hadn't even seen him point anything yet. When I picked him up three months later, he was pointing birds and retrieving after they were shot.

I have Dunfer breeding in my dogs and have been around more of his breeding Its top notch breeding, Dan's accomplishments speak for themselves his dogs are very well trained he puts out effort that is required for a Clients hunting dog I have seen it first hand.. as for Allergies in dogs, food is the #1 cause carpet can cause allergies fleas and one that people don't no about is how your house is heated radiant heaters dry the air so bad that the dogs skin get so dry and then they can get a dermatitis from it. I would rule all those out and just talk about the dog as an individual before I blamed it on the Dunfur Kennels..I'm confident in the Dunfur pedigree and breeding program that's why I'm, going there Monday and leave one of my Bitches to be breed to one of is many field champions..

quality breeder........

KF, it seems Dunfur is mostly a gsp trainer. Brits are total different ball of wax, consider what jetjockey said for your Brit.

I have a 4 year old Dunfur Pup. What a hunting machine she is. He is a great guy and knows how to train a dog.

Dan trains all breeds his approach is second to none,he is very sharp it dosnt matter what pointing breed it is there are soft german shorthars, Britts can be on the soft side but you use the same approach on them there all individuals at the end of the day and if there a pointing breed or a flushing breed there dogs. Dan has field champions of all the pointing breeds his dogs come first, if you show up to his kennel better get ready to keep up ! his dogs come first and if you can't handle the truth don't show up ! he also has a young kid that has been with him that does a nice job helping train the dogs if your dog has the ability Dan will get the most out of it and develop your dog to a stylish bird finding monster ! But he's not God he can't change or give what the dog can't provide ! I have spent a few days with him in the field and hope to train more in the near future.. Dunfur's Kennel is top notch they are contenders not pretenders !
