Title: Crappie in W WA
Post by: steelyonfly on May 29, 2011, 11:19:08 PM: Gentlemen and Ladies (I saw the fishing women thread).

I'm not here wanting you to give me your secret spots, but I'm lost without a place to go Crappie fishing. I'm from TX originally and really miss fishing for Crappie. Any suggestions on what places West of Olympia that hold crappie. Unfortunately, I don't have a boat.

Post by: PolarBear on May 29, 2011, 11:58:40 PM: I was planning on hitting Pattison today but have to wait until next weekend. I have never caught any crappie there but I wa targeting bigger bass, which there are plenty of.

Duck Lake over in Ocean Shores has crappie and so does Silver Lake in Cowlitz County.

There are a few there. BUT, good luck on any of these lakes without a boat, from my experience. The only thing likely to be caught at St. Claire from the launch area are perch and the occasional rainbow. Though, the rainbows generally taste really good out of S.C.

Post by: BigGoonTuna on May 30, 2011, 11:59:50 AM: a friend of mine's dad used to really clean up on them in st. clair right off the boat ramp, but i've fished that lake for years and i've never caught one.

there are some big ones in hicks lake, but they're hard to find, at least for me.

Duck Lake and the connecting labyrinth of canals are the perfect place for year-round bass, crappie and trout fishing. The park has an ADA men's and women's restrooms which are kept open until sunset. A port-a-potty is available by the boat launch 24 hours a day during the summer months.

Post by: steelyonfly on June 04, 2011, 04:28:51 PM: Thanks to all for the replies. I talked to a friend with a boat and he seems interested for a little Crappie and catfish action too. Since he lives in Lacey, he's nearby to a lot of your suggestions.
