anyone have one of these or know if its any good?? $99 delivered to your door sounds WAAAAAAAAAAAY too good to be true especially for a IR MIL dot scope with those magnifications and 50mm. all the ratings on the page say its good but just sounds ways to good to be true. ive never really heard of barska scopes before other than red dot sights. anyone have any clue? looks pretty sweet for $99 but i have a leupold 3x9 that fogs up every season and im getting sick of it plus i like the mil dot idea i do alot of long range shooting with my R700 .300 win mag as well as deer/elk hunting. my pops tells me to stop looking at it cuz its probably sheet but i just dont know. what do you all think??

Send the Leupold in to get fixed and forget the barska, they are junk.

When it comes to optics, there is no truer statement than "you get what you pay for".

If you want a spotting scope that is actually better than what the price would indicate, look at either Vortek or Zen-Ray.

Oh, sorry, still Vortex would be a good one to look at for rifle scopes.

Here's a good site to look at for good deals:    http://www.samplelist.com/Riflescopes-C4.aspx (http://www.samplelist.com/Riflescopes-C4.aspx)

Also, Sightron makes good scopes at a reasonable price. I see some of them on the "sample list".

If you want to get rid of that Leupold....If the outside is not beat up.  I have a Vortex Crossfire I will swap you.  It's a 6-25X50 AO. 1 inch tube.  Just to big for my rifle. Light ring marks, no dents.  Mil-dot, box, paper work,  sun shade, finger adjustable tall target turrets.  I bought it used off SFWA and never used it. It's a nice clean looking scope.   Lifetime warranty.  No IR.

On that Leupy if the fogging is on the outside of the lens there is nothing that can be done about it and is comon with all scopes try leaving it in a place that is the same temp as where you are hunting, if it is inside the lens then send it back to Leupold with a note explaining that their last work on the scopedidnt help.

For a scope that you are depending on durring a hunt stay with one of the more popular brand names.  The Weaver V-16 is a real sleeper, great glass spot on adjustments.

Scopes by Burris, Nikon, Leupold, Vortex,Sightron, and Bushnell(Elite 3200-4200).  I haven't tried one yet but thenew Redfield scopes are supose to be a fair value.  I'd try and stay away from the bottom teir of scopes from even the name brands as they have to cut costs somewhere.  Supeisinfly I have a couple of Mueller scopes and they have worked for me.

thanks lazydrifer but as good as that sounds ill have to pass im looking for a less power magnification than that im looking for a minimum of 4x and maximum of 16x. 6x-25x is too much for the deer and elk hunting i do none of the shots ive had for deer or elk have been over 150yds so 4x is a good minimum for me.

Trading a Leupold for a Barska is like trading a Ferrari for a Ugo.  :bdid:

I have use Leupold's for years. Rode a few down mountain sides, wasn't the plan, but stuff happens. Even that scope never fogged. Send it back. Tell them it fogged, when you get it back put it in your freezer for a day or two, take it out and let it come back to room temperature. THEN look through it to see if it has fogged.

My bet is it is condensation on the out side.

i would put a barska on a 22 or something, but not a 300winny.

if your going cheap there are several options through bushnell banner, nikon and redfeild low model scopes. if you want to step it up there is always meopta, or minox in the next price range up.

barska puts illuminated reticles on many of their scopes because its cheaper than putting nicer glass in them to transmit more light.

A couple of guys over in germany ordered the 30mm tube european models with all the fixings and were pretty dissapointed..... even for only 100 bucks.

The vx-l series are complete quality.  Awesome clarity and light sensitivity.  If you meticulously search online you can end up getting a great deal on one.  I got one on my rifle and can't imagine ever wanting more.
