My dad got drawn for an idaho moose tag (area 7). We put in for him and he doesnt know it yet..its a fathers day gift.
With this in mind, and times being the way they are, I have been kicking the idea of buying a wolf tag/license. However its about 300 bucks, give or take. While I want to buy one, I have a hard time paying all that money for something I wont eat.
My question is, would other hunters be willing to donate any amount of money to help support this? If so, I might start a small website with a paypal account to help out, with a graph showing the amount taken in, with a cut off once the price is reached. Just a thought!
Think of it this way, you might get a cool huntwa wolf kill story on here! Then again, you might just get a bunch of cool pics. Could be your chance to help level out them wolves! :chuckle:
-
You need one more option: nope, just can't spare the cash.
So, for me, nope. Not becasause I want to save the wolves but just don't have the cash to donate to others tags.
-
There ya go! I hear ya, ....I figured my luck might increase if I could get 300 people to hand over a dollar! ;)
-
Okay, I'll pitch in a dollar. $5 if I get dibs on the tail!
-
I said maybe and thats cause it depends on who it was.
You , sure id chip in a little bit.
Bigger picture:
Start a non-profit that generates funds to give out tags :dunno:

:dunno: :bash: :bash:
-
I would as soon as everybody, store, foundation etc that asks me for money will donate to me too..
first !
-

I'll pitch 10 if I can pull the trigger :peep:
-
Sounds like a great idea. Then we can live vicariously through your hunt...... It would be cool if everyone who donated could be the first ones to read about the trip on the website.
I'd pitch in a few bucks.

:dunno: :bash: :bash:
Got a quetion?
-
I voted no only because I don't want to donate so I think you need another vote option too.
If you needed some money for food or housing or you were in some other situation like that, I'd throw down for you quick, but I can't justify donating so a guy can go hunting. No offense.
:twocents:
-
Sorry, but something just struck me when I went back and re-read the original post. So, you don't want to spend the $$ on a tag for you since you aren't going to eat it but am okay with us providing the cash so you can pull the trigger? I'd like to change my vote to a simple no. Doesn't sit right with me. Sorry.
-
I am putting a wolf hunt together with another member on here. Hopefully we can get the job done and post it up on here. Good luck with your hunt and great job on getting dad a tag.....

This is an odd thread for the record.

I'm pretty sure that's what he's getting at...thus my earlier post.
-
sounds crazy to me.
-
I'm a bit confused? I voted no not because I want save the wolves but mainly because you are willing to spend $2101.75 for an out of state moose tag but not willing to pay $186 for a wolf tag. Gotta agree with Jackalope this is a very odd thread?
-
How is it $300? According to what I read a Wolf Tag in ID is only about $180-something... :dunno:
-
So you want us to pay you to go shoot a wolf ?? UM.............NO !!!
Oh wait, do I get a quarter of that moose ?? :P
-
LMAO, kudos for you to for even asking. I tell you what I will go with you pay for my own tag and whack one in front of you if that is ok.
Joe
-
sry man but you didnt have the option i wanted, and that would be no. agree with Holg3107, you can spend the 2200 on the moose but not 180 for a wolf, you got a set of cahoonys(?) on you for even asking especially the way the economy is. good luck to you, maybe ill see you over there, think im going to try to whack one myself.
-
I get the 300 roughly, as I would have to pay for the out of state Hunt license (154 bucks) and then the tag (180).
This isnt something I was overly serious about, just testing the water. I just know how everyone yammers about wolves on here (if you pay any attention) and if you could give a buck so another fairly successful predator hunter could go over (since I am headed over there anyway) and try his hand at filling a wolf tag, fulfilling some of peoples wishes on here...meh...its only a buck! :chuckle:
Not trying to offend, swindle or anything else..just curious about peoples thoughts.
And the moose tag was paid for from all of us kids and mom, not just me.
I only lightly proposed this, DUE to the economy. If I was overly rich, I wouldnt blink twice at spending 300 bucks to bag a wolf! ;)
So again, its just a general poll, wasnt ment to offend (it was half for fun anyway)...and even if I dont do the idea and I do save enough here and there for a wolf tag, I will still post the story hunt wa for all to enjoy. ;)
Regardless, I will also post the moose story on here too.
August 1st yet?
PS...good luck RTSpring...maybe see ya out there!
-
If someone puts in for a tag he should be able to pay for it himself. I put in for what I thought I could afford this year. The vote was unfair cause there was not a vote for yeah I'd like to see a wolf taken out but I don't think I need to pay for it for someone else. If could put in for alot of tags and not afford it but I wouldn't expect anyone else to help me py for it.
-
If I won the mega millions I would buy anybody that was serious a tag.
-
You have the right idea, but probably the wrong community. Maybe find a ranch out that way that's lost some stock, they'll probably fix you dinner, iron your socks if you ask.
-
Shoot the wolf.....go to town and buy the tag.
Very slim chances you will get the opportunity so it is not worth the $180 up front.
Lets face it the state of Idaho would not admit they condone the shoot first buy later practice but I guarantee the heads would turn the other way. After all the local tag is only $11 indicating to me how little the department of fish and game thinks of the wolf.
It is amazing the anti wolf messages hanging and posted all around those small Idaho towns in the elk country.

Taken care of. And good idea about the ranchers..... ;)
Cheers ladies and gents...Regardless, Huntwa will benefit from this for at least one story.

Little Dave is spot on
-
If, WE, bought the wolf tag for you, how would you pay for food, gas, lodging etc ? That would be probably another $1,000. Or, would that be another donation too ? :chuckle:
-
:dunno: :bash: :bash:
Got a quetion?
yes, are you kidding me? Please pay for all my tags next year also, because of the economy :bash:
-
I wouldn't mind helping a fellow hunter out in thinning the pack(s) but cannot afford to fork over the extra cash. I just spent a boatload on WA license and applications and ID license and controlled hunt permits.
For the record, since I already have the ID license and will be out there quite a bit I am toying with the idea of buying a wolf tag too. I've seen several in my years of hunting ID but am afraid that the moment I buy a wolf tag I'll never see another. Seems to work that way with me....LOL.
FYI: I applaud you for asking and figured right off the bat that this was a "test the waters" type poll. Thought it was kind of funny and a bit creative myself.

The economy sucks for everybody.
-
They have wolves in ID? Man i need to get out more. :tinfoil:
Good luck Saylean... There seems to be a couple packs in that area.

I'm thinking about a kudu hunt in South Africa. Can someone else pay for it please? It'll help the meerkat population.
-
I donated money to Big Game Forever for their wolf fight. I figure a few dollars to Saylean for him to try to kill a wolf would be money well spent too..........
-
lol i would dontae if i got to tag along :chuckle:
lol but i vote no. because i want to save wolves.. they want to live too. they have feelings too. they are magnisifant animals. glad to see that i'm not the only one wanting to save wolves here.
-

My thoughts exactly.
I agree with everyones points, its just that a couple bucks isnt going to break the bank and if it can bring someone else the joy of hunting and reducing the wolf population im IN.
-
OK, sorry for my earlier, sarcastic response. But, I'm saving my $s for my own tags. Good luck.
-
Sorry if this steals any of your thunder Saylean, but the way I understand the wolf tag system, there will be a quota, and once it gets filled, they will shut off the season, right? Is there any chance that the quota won't get filled?
-
That quota wasn't even remotely close to being filled last wolf season.
-

At least reported ;)
-
hell i will throw in 20, no sweat, what would be cool is if you have a drawing for who ever donates for the wolf pelt, you will still have the satisfaction of whackn a wolf and you would have lots of pictures i am sure. but hell i will donate 20 even if you dont want to have a drawing, hopefully it would be one less wolf......
-
Ya, I think a lot of people took me the wrong way on here or should I say, way too serious.... I wasnt even looking for a 20 dollar donation...I was more thinking a buck... A generous offer Jack BTW. Mainly, I brought it up, since there are usually massive threads on here on how so many would do anything to kill the big bad wolf, several of which post that SSS is ok (which I dont agree with). So, my theory was that if they feel that way, why not donate a buck, .50 cents, two bucks, etc to someone who is going down there anyway. As ive said, the worst they can say is no!
And no, I wouldnt need gas, food supplies, donations :chuckle: etc...Im sure my brothers and I, with pops, wont have a problem with all that, we got tons of elk to eat, by then a few bears probably etc.... ;)
Thanks for all who voted and put in their two cents! I appreciate it!
Cheers!
-
If I am very RICH and I would buy a Bus carry 20 men and camp stuff. I would pick up trailer with 15 Atv bring u all to spread around mountain who ever want shoot wolves it would be my treat. I would buy u all tags and spend camp out feed u all. It would be so cool. Sorry I ain't rich. :bash: Someday if I won lottery, I will offer u ALL TO COME for FREE TRIPS.
WOLVES. :bfg:
Mulehunter.
-
I'll throw ya down a $1.
It's not like it will put me into the poor farm.
Will you accept 2 rolls of pennies? :chuckle:

what does sss mean :dunno: cause i dont know

SSS=Shoot Shovel Shut up.
Poach in other words.

I didn't see an option that I'd contribute to: Reimbursement for a FILLED Wolf Tag.
If the tag was paid for by other people up front (a free tag), at least in my case or most people I know there would be less motivation to fill it; as opposed to a tag I actually had to buy. Now, if I bought a tag myself and was told that should I fill it, that I would be reimbursed...I'd probably hunt wolves a bit more seriously. (Or any animal come to think of it) But if no wolf, then have to eat the tag and the cost. For the sponsors?, they don't pay unless a wolf hits the dirt. So if wolf dies, then sponsors? get a wolf removed from elk killing and the hunter gets paid. Essentially instead of paying for hunting (success unknown--someone's recreation) you would pay for killing (a service provided).
-
I said no as well. If you can't afford the hunt then don't go. There are a lot of hunts I would like to do but are not in my budget. So therefore I don't go on them.
-
I'd like everybody to chip in and buy me a new gun. :chuckle:
-
I see 11 people voted to save the wolves, I'm not surprised.
-
So we have at least 11 wolf huggers on the site.............. :o
-
And some closet wolf huggers... some of whom are probably administration.
-
oh great, here we go...cant even trust the people on here anymore. closet hiders...damn, i knew it was too good to bet true.

Bringing up an old topic
The out of state for Idaho just got cheaper. 31.75 for the tag and $154.75 for the license.

hahaha well these days you have no idea who people are So donating money is a :bdid: My luck I would be donating to the tree hungers association :yike: SO my answer is NO !
-
Whacker, I LIKE the looks of that! Awesome!
-
You still need us to chip in :chuckle: At least it will only take 32 of us
-
I wouldn't donate no matter how well you sugar coat the idea, you would get bored with the list of things id like to do that I dont want to fork over the cash for or can't afford. Spent over 600 this year putting my wife, daughter, and I in for everything we were eligible for in Wa, (not selected) all across the board, and another 200 for me in Oregon with the same results. Worked hard for every dollar spent, but sometimes you have to pay to play the game.

I saw that. My pastor hunts over by Orofino. He told me that he ponied up for the wolf tag now that it's affordable...
