Title: Backdoor results...Is that just looking on the Fishhunt page?
Post by: jechicdr on June 02, 2011, 06:14:29 PM
Simple question, and have seen people discuss backdoor results for other states.  Guessing it's specific to the way the states do their particular online sales.

It was definately june 18th.  That is when all the thread traffic was going on last year.  That was also the date that I put in for vacation dates.  Can anyone tell that I am really looking forward to putting in for vacation.

They put the deadline a week earlier this year, so we'll see if we get results any earlier.   :dunno:

If I say "I don't think so" does that make me a "pessimist" or a "realist".... :chuckle: :chuckle:

My boss just asked me about vacation time this morning.  I had to tell him I didn't know yet because the draw results are not out yet.

Probably won't draw anything anyway, but I want to wait on vacation until I know for sure.

I hear there is a new virus that tends to be spread around the fall time.  You may have to call in sick with "mountain fever".

So the thoughts are maybe tomorrow results might start showing. I wonder if the possibility is even greater since the department is closed! That would eliminate phone calls. Either that or we won't see anything because nobody will be on staff to run the postings?

other question is..isn't it the drawing run by a outside source other than fish and game? they wouldn't necessarily need to be at work for the results to go up

that might be correct, because i think the lag between the backdoor resuls and the officail is for the WDFW verification of the results.

The consensus is....none of us know jack squat and it's killing us!  We will all continue to check the damn website multiple times a day and sit up and night wondering if the results are in.

FYI-i just checked again.  NOTHING!!!  son of a biatch

It's funny... the Oregon guys are now hoping for their results to be out on Monday, just like us. For some reason I'm thinking that our results will not be out until at least a day after Oregon's. It just seems like it's always that way.

For those that cannot wait, please fill out the following form.  Make sure you put in "Hunt Number" and "Hunt Name".  Put down the choice you want to be selected for as Hunt Choice Number 1.  When complete, simply print it out and you're done!  No more waiting around, no more worries about being called an a$$hat.  You don't need to check the back door.  You don't need to whine.  You can start the scouting now, or better yet post something asking for help because you've never been in the unit before (but remember not to ask for the honey holes).

That's right, no asking for "honey holes".   :chuckle:

Say you have 4 people applying as a group and when your name gets drawn there are only 2 permits left; then you will not be selected.......but if you had applied as individual, then you would have been drawn.  That scenario is most likely to happen when applying for permits that have very limitted numbers available...... :twocents:

Thats why you put in for units that have more permits when you apply as a group.

how do ya figure it hurts yer odds when ya put in as a group if ya"ll have the same amount of points?... maybe im missin somthin!! :dunno:

For a couple of reasons. First, applying as individuals, each application has a chance of being drawn. When applying as a group, there's only one application, instead of multiple applications. So, if your group is two people, the chances of somebody drawing a permit, decreases by half, if you apply as a group.

The other factor is the one Curly posted.

Dont agree with ya on the fact that decreases by half! when you apply as an individual theres only one app. That doesnt pencil out ta me! other than the " if theres not enough permits available for your group size theory"..... the maximum group size is equal ta the # of permits!
Title: Re: Backdoor results...Is that just looking on the Fishhunt page?
Post by: bobcat on June 13, 2011, 08:58:37 PM
Jrod, it's pretty simple. Just think about it without even taking points into consideration. If you are a "group" of two, and apply individually, there are two chances that ONE of you will draw a permit. But if you apply as a group, you only have one application in the draw, and only one chance to draw.
Title: Re: Backdoor results...Is that just looking on the Fishhunt page?
Post by: carpsniperg2 on June 13, 2011, 09:17:10 PM
:yeah: the only time the group thing works good is if you have like 1 point and your buddy/buddies have a lot. They avg the point so if you have 1 and your buddy has 10 then u have 5 points for the draw.
Title: Re: Backdoor results...Is that just looking on the Fishhunt page?
Post by: jechicdr on June 13, 2011, 10:26:07 PM
Hypothetically, lets say chance of getting drawn is 50%.  If people apply individually then possibilities include Not selected+Not selected, Selected+Not selected, Not selected+Selected, Selected+Selected.  So with a 50% draw rate, the chance of at least one person getting drawn is 75%.  Not sure how the group hunt is actually drawn but here are a couple of possibilities:  If each person in the group is entered separately and if one or the other is drawn, the group gets tags would be one way...that would result in 3 out of 4 draws where both people would end up with tags (better than individually, so I suspect this is not the way it is done); If the group is entered as an entity (like an individual) then the group would have a 50:50 chance of getting drawn...that would result in a 50% chance of both getting drawn or not drawn.  If you had 4-2 person groups that applied individually that would result in 4 tags and 3/4 groups getting to hunt, though not everyone would have bull tags.  If the same groups applied as groups, then there would be 4 tags issued but only 2/4 of the groups would get to hunt, but all individuals would have bull tags.

Does checking the status every 10 minutes prove that I'm excited.  I think this is leading into a problem.  Come on WDFW post the draws...the anticipation is killing me!!!!!  I'm gonna be dissapointed if it goes beyond the 17th this year.  Probably building my hopes on quicksand.  I drew last year one out of 8 picks but am hoping to get what I want this year...I'm just as excited for others in the group to draw.  Crossing my fingers.

Any whitetail buck in the pearrygin.  Tag soup.  Extremely tough hunting and low numbers...it was a mix up and I wouldn't draw for that tag again unless I had a bruizer I knew about.  There are some big WT in that unit.

You don't need it.  They are on the regular draw results page now.  Just go to WDFW site and check your results the "front door" way.

@ Thehunt- That wasn't my intention, at all. Just got excited about being able to finally post something that seemed worthy.  I know your not really directing the 1st post deal at me personally, but I honestly feel kind of like a toolshed for making my first post on the draw results day, so I get what your talking about brother. I'll put in the time to get it done on this bowhunt. I've spent alot of time shed hunting and scouting for other buddies that have drawn tags up in the Toutle and Margaret, so hopefully I will be able to dial my Toutle hunt right in.

@Curly- Again, I feel kind of like "that guy" when I decided to make a post on the draw results day.  I've just been creeping on the page for 3 years now...figured I'd jump in finally with something positive is all.

Cem3434- Again brother, thanks for the welcome love from the get go.
