i was just wondering what is the best shooting bow and most accurate bow other people have had
-
Matheeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwsssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
-
for me its hands down my bowtech destroyer 350 27in draw and 60lb i have had alot of diffrent bows and most have shot well but my new destroyer 350 is hands down the best shooting and most accurate bow ive ever shot..
-
I really like my strothers infinity. Don't know if it is the best out there, pretty subjective to the individual, but it is quiet, fast and fun to shoot.
-
I've had great success with my Martin Cougar II. Yea I know it is old but it is still trustworthy and works for me
-
bowtech hands down
-
The last bow I bought was a 08 Bowtech Allegiance, great freeking bow!
-
z7 is a great bow, but for me after testing every new top of the line bow this year the monster was the best fit for me.
-
My mathews LX is an awesome bow. I got a Z7 this year so my son can use the LX. Both are great and smooth,
-
I shot 8 or 9 different bows when I was shopping for a new one. When I shot the Mathews Reezen, I bought it. None of the other bows I shot came close.
-
my mathews reezen is sweet. very hard wall, and once your in its locked and ready and is like a bull ready to be turned out. the only thing its quite and smooth shooting. my last 3 bows have been mathews. never have shot hoyt, so i can't really compare. won one at a raffle, but never shot it. don't shoot bowtech, nor will i ever. used to be shop shooter for martin. martin fury, pantera, and one i can't remember.
-
mathews switchback
-
For me it is the Bowtech Destroyer 340. I have not shot the 350. I have owned and shot a lot of bows in the last 5 years and My 340 has out shined them all.
The bows I have owned in the last 5 or so years are:
Hoyt Trykon
Hoyt Vectrix
Bowtech Guardian
Maitland Retribution
HCA Speed Pro X10
Currently own:
Hoyt Maxxis 31 (Awesome bow!)
Bowtech Destroyer 340
Have shot:
Mathews DXT
Mathews M7
Mathews Z7
Don't get me wrong, the rest of these bows are all great bows but I still feel the Destroyer 340 is the best bow I have shot so far.
I really want to try out the Invasion! :)
-
i have a cabelas series bow from 05 or 06 that wa made by hoyt. i love it. shoots on a dime, is fairly quiet and very user friendly. had a buddy do the tune up when i first got it and did ok but not what i expected. i took it to cabelas in lacey and had them tune it, dave did it, and it shot incredibly well after that. was surprised at he difference in performance and doubly impressed how the staff at cabelas treated the whole thing. there was ten people behind waiting and they werent satisfied until i was satisfied. was a great experience if you need a place to get urs tuned and ready. very knowledgeable.ive shot a few diamonds and didnt like them and the same with mathews and martins. nice bows for sure but not for me
-
i bought a mathews Q2XL 10 years ago and it still shoots like a dream. these past few months my son wanted to buy his first bow so we went to a few shops and he shot the bow techs, an alpine and finally settled on the mathews z7 "something something"...don't know the exact model but dang that thing shoots nice....I'll probably upgrade my mathews in a few years but am still shooting lights out with my "old" one for now
-
#1 Hoyt maxxis 35
#2 Bowtech 82nd airborne
I haven't spent much time behind it but I think when I do the carbon matrix will take the #1 spot.
-
seems to be a running theme here Bowtech...but when u ask which bow to buy everyone is MAthews,Pse and hoyt... I have owned bows from almost every manufacturer..I had a Bowtech extreme vft and I feel this wa the most solid shooting bow I had ever owned..I now shoot a Pse x-force which is a close second
-
Len shoots a Martin - and is very happy with it...
For me ~ I shoot a Mathews 'Passion' - it's an awesome bow!
-
Hoyt Vectrix. Its about 6 years old. I like it better than my Hoyt Alpha max which is newer.
-
I shoot a Browning. It dose a good job. I am sure there are far better ones out these days. Mine is going on 16 years old now!
-
Diamond Blackice
-
hoyt maxxis 31, love it.
-
Destroyer 340!!! Really smooth, quiet, and fast.
-
the fancy smansy HOYT CARBON bow. that sucker was so smooth. i came off a 3 year break from shooting and shot like i had never stopped when i picked that bad boy up. dang thing wasnt even set up for me.
-
i bought a hoyt crx 32 and ive never been happier with a bow, and i shot the mathews z7 extreme and liked the hoyt better.
-
I've shot many bows over the last 30 years and loved most of them. It's how well YOU shot the bow that matters.
Right now I have the Mathews Rivel Pro and the Mathews Reezen. I like the Rivel Pro best.
-
the PSE Dominator PRO is hands down the best shooting bow i have ever shot. however not the best hunting bow... but i may still set it up for a hunt this year.
-
:yeah:
mathews switchback
Hard to beat that draw cycle and shock. It's a bow that a guy could have for 30 years and not need to buy into the faster hype since it hits hard enough to take anything on the planet.
-
I shot a Hoyt Spectra/FastFlite for 12 years. Every last one of my buddies in the industry started calling me "Old School" and urged me to change. They all thought I was crazy as I had the ability to shoot anything I wanted. I took at least 30 animals in that 12 years and only missed two that I can recall. Sure wish my success ratio was that good today.
I workout everyday now getting ready for a Dall sheep hunt in NWT. That bow hangs right beside my elliptical. Each time my aging heart rate raises above 140 I think it starts calling to me "Take Me! Take Me! Take Me!" I have about seven other bows, newer, faster, lighter all hanging there too. But, none of them ever say a word to me in my dazed pre-stroke hallucination. That baby sure loves to kill animals. I just might have to dust her off and head north.
-
Strothers SR-71 Ilove that it has virtually no hand shock.... at all!
-
Bowtech D340 for me. It feels like a bow thats designed to be forgiving and easy to shoot, till you put it through a chrono!
-
envy by elite archery
-
Destroyer 350 no question
-
its a toss up between hoyt maxxis 31 and hoyt carbon element no hand shock super nice
HOYT HOYT HOYT HOYT HOYT HOYT HOYT HOYT HOYT HOYT HOYT HOYT HOYT HOYT :IBCOOL:
-
82nd airborne, also impressed with the new invasion.
-
I agree with the new Invasion CPX. Just put a Loesch grip on mine. Made an impressive bow "Great!"
-
The best bow i've ever shot is the K & K Vindicator. I wish I could get one but just can't afford one right now. I absolutely love my Strother SR-71 its by far the next closest thing to the Vindicator, and then my Strother Inspire for a 3D bow. All I can say is I've fallin in love with Kevin Strothers bow designs.
-
Bow tec 82 airborn.love it.
-
For now I like HCA speed pro.10 I traded for my Z7, nice bow 33in. ATA 7in. BH and adjustable DL and its light
3.5lb but what i like the most is the wall very solid. I'm not saying that this is the best but so far i like it more then Z7, Hoyt alphaburner , monster 7 and elite judge all of them pretty good bows but not my cup of tea.
I'm still looking for the best !! :IBCOOL: this is what I'm saying to my wife this way I'm still open to try as many as i like
-
07 Diamond: Black Ice (In Velvet) quitest, smoothest, and fastest bow I have ever picked up. Set at 72 lbs. 306fps.
-
Shot quite a few last year at Lucky Shot and the Bowtech Admiral blew me away. The Matthews Monster was a beast that I'd never own (loud, ridiculous draw cycle, far from dead in your hand on release). Those were the two that left an impression on me. :twocents:
-
I've been a hoyt shooter for a long time but I'm thinking about making the switch and shooting something new next year.
-
2005 Mathews Switchback. It's heavy and slow but butter smooth. Just the way I like em.
-
I thought it would be my 08 Bowtech Commander, but after shooting this 2011 Maitland Zeus..... its #1 for me...
-
Smoothed bow I've ever shot was my since stolen Matthews Drenaline LD. By far the best all around for me is my Bowtech Destroyer 340. I'd love to try out a Bowtech Invasion to.
-
Have shot alot of bows over the years and the Mathews Switchback that I am currentllyshooting and have been for 6 years now is by far my favorite.Smooth, fast, quite and very forgiving.Works great on critters from 8 to 88 yards just dandy.
-
I would have to say the hoyt crx32 I bought that bow after I shot hoyt carbon element I also shot the z7 and stil refuse to shoot mathews. HOYT ALL THE WAY!
-
Kodiak Titan 34 ;)
-
I've got an 07 browning illusion. It's the only bow that I've shot, but from what the guys who tune it says, they say it's quiet and accurate.
-
Hands down for me is my Limbsaver DZ-32, third bow i've owned but i've shot many different brands of bows and my limbsaver is most comfortable for mee. Its a brand of bow that hasn't quite made it big big yet but trust me on their way to it! If you get an opportunity to shoot one i would definately recommend it!
-
For me it's my Hoyt carbon matrix, light, no vibration, money well spent for me, and I think I'm going to get the Element next year.
-
I have shot alot of bows and currently hunt with a Hoyt Alphamax and it is a great bow but to be honest a single cam Matthews bow can not be beat.
-
My Goodness, that is a hard one. I can only narrow it down.
RIGHT NOW :My new Bowtech Invasion CPX is one of those bows that has super speed, great control, and fairly noise/vibration free. I look forward to putting memories with the bow.
I really liked my Hoyt Pro Tec target bow, and my Mathews switchback, but I have fond memories of the first adult compound to be put into my hands...the Bear Whitetail 2. Ahh yes...cant say a favorate, but I can can easily say Ive had a lot of favorates.
-
mathews sq2 would not trade for nothen ....fits me like it is part of my body and it loves whackin & stackin
-
its a tuff choice... i shoot the original x-force... however i love new bow technology and try to at least shoot all the new bows... to be honest all the new bows shoot great... however when it comes to total over all package with speed, vibration, quiet and balanced i think bowtech built a hell of a bow with the new invasion... i have heard great things about the strothers but have yet to shoot one... its on the to do list...
-
So far the carbon Element but hoping to shoot the invasion soon...
-
So far the carbon Element but hoping to shoot the invasion soon...
Sounds like you are going to be a Bowtech guy pretty soon! The difference is substantial.
-
mathews switchback
INDEED, thats what I shoot. I knew it was the bow for me the second I picked it up...
-
Hoyt Defiant by far!!
-
Diamond black Ice.
-
Mathews Q2. I think it's a very forgiving bow. I'd really like to try a Hoyt CRX 35.
My first compound bow was a Martin M10 Dynabo.
-
My firsrt bow was a Bowtech Extreme VFT and i loved it. I traded it to a friend who is still shooting it. He wont get rid of it! its a friggin 03! There are way better bows out now but he just wont give it up. I now have a 08 Bowtech Gaurdian. Other than being a bit heavy this bow is it for me! 28.5 draw length set at 65 lbs. Love this bow. Super easy to draw and hold. Smooth shooter and quiet!
-
My new to me used bow I just got. Bowtech general
-
98' PSE Dakota. Suprisingly fast, never once has gotten out of tune and is exceptionally quiet. Great hunting bow. 40" axle to axle and I shoot fingers.
-
I really like my Mathews Q2 also. I may upgrade in a few years, when I can pick up a used Z7 for $400-$500.
-
Hot carbon element hands down. Spendy???yes but worth every penny. Smothest bow you will ever shoot :twocents:
-
When I was shopping I shot all of the 2010 mathews, hoyts, bowtechs, a few diamonds and afew pse the bows I thought felt the best were the g5 quests I bought the primal it is awesome.
-
I've had great success with my Martin Cougar II. Yea I know it is old but it is still trustworthy and works for me
I agree, I shoot a mid 90's cougar set at 74#, finger shooter, with a whisker biscuit and a 465 gr arrow and it shoots sweet. infact I was shooting with my buddy on saturday with his fancy complicated 2 year old speed bow with probably 375gr arrows. and we were both shooting good. we decided to campare arrow flight so we shot at the same time and though he had a flatter trajectory, his arrows lost alot of momentum from say 30 yards and further and at longer distances my arrow actually reached the target first.
-
Q2XL......wish I still had it. As for the 3 Mathews and 1 Martin I still own, easiest, most forgiving , best shooting......Mathews Icon. DO I hunt with it?, no. I still wish I had the Q2XL....
-
wish I had my first darton,no sights, fingers..70's model was a good shooter...now its the sapphire hawk yeah boy
-
Mathews switchback 80 percent let off.
-
I love my hoyt maxxis 31, but sounds like the 350 destroyer is a great one too.
-
I had a Switchback and liked it but I like my Z7 better. So, I guess Z7 is my answer.
-
I really like my Quest Primal. Sharp looking bow and it is very smooth. Fits me well and I am much more consistent with it then my previous bows.
-
MATHEWS... Any of them :sry: :chuckle:
-
Martin Jaquar, great little compound. Only set at about 60 lbs and shoots a good amount faster than all my buddies bowtech's.
-
Hoyt turbo hawk. For the money it is the best darn bow I have shot.
-
DARTON all the way. Always have and always will. http://www.dartonarchery.com/index.html (http://www.dartonarchery.com/index.html)

I'm sorry guys that raised the dead from the dead old topic, just have a few interesting observations from personal experience, perhaps someone will need this information in the future.
Compound bows have a let off of any where from 65-80%. Guys who are shooting 70lbs with a compound with 80% let off are only holding 14lbs after the let off. Those same guys will not be nearly as accurate with a 60lb recurve or longbow.
There are sights for recurve bows but honestly for survival bow, stick to the KISS principal. The only thing that replaces practice & experience, is more practice & experience. Shooting a bow without sights is not nearly as difficult as you would think.
I had a 35lb fiberglass longbow https://secretstorages.com/best-compound-bow/ for years (my wife inadvertently sold it during a garage sale - she's still is not allowed in the garage). I had a dozen wooden arrows for it and I was ridiculously accurate within 30 yards. Never shot it with anything other than field points though. Never shot broadheads with it.
Look on eBay and check Craigs list. You'll want a finger tab or glove for holding the string. I never used an arm guard because, IMO, it promotes the bad habit of locking out your arm when shooting.
-
I haven't shot many bows other than the mid-range ones I've owned. I did shoot a Matthews zero cam a couple of years ago and immediately wanted to go into debt. That was a smooth, quiet bow.
-
The Bowtech icon in smooth setting is pretty tough to beat for comfort . the primal g5 was always a easy bow for me to shoot aswell .
-
I Love my Z7. It is a lethal machine
-
I Love my Z7. It is a lethal machine
:yeah: X2

First compound I ever bought was a PSE Stinger G3. I didn't know a thing about bows at the time. First part of this year a close friend put a BowTech Icon in my hand. OMG! I was in the dark ages all that time with the PSE. There's a world of difference between the single cam and the double, I never knew. Bought the Icon right then and there. I love shooting that bow. Now all I have to do is harvest something with it.

Mathews Halon 6
-
I have shot PSE, bowtechs, few Hoyts, Diamond. My Mathews Z7 X is great. Best was a Mathews Z9. Big long bow but butter to shoot and pin point arrows.
-
Elite Energy 32 Man is that thing smooth and quiet. Big fan :twocents:
-
Out of the compounds Iv'e owned it would be the Elite E32.
-
Anything that costs over a grand is probably going to be pretty nice!
-
Hoyt nitrum 34 has one of the best Hoyt draw cycles in my opinion.

I'm still shooting a 20 year old Golden Eagle compound. 60 lbs draw with 65% let off, the old Washington state let off limit. I keep up with my buddy and his brand new brand name bow at the archery walk through at Tacoma Sportsmans club. Its also 100 times quieter than the new bows and has a super smooth draw. Only draw back to my bow is that only a few shops in the state still replace the strings for it! I will say though... it has killed a lot of blacktails. I've killed a deer with it and turned around and my father killed a deer the same year with it many times. If I was getting a new bow it would be a bear arena 34 or one of the newer bear archery choices. For the time being though, I will keep her shooting and cleaned and she will keep putting venison in the freezer!
-
Digging my new Dream Season Epix. First season with it and killed a nice bull.
-
I've owned an old Martin Jaguar that I shot just as good as my 2 Bowtechs. Yes the bowtech is smoother but it's all over rated. New boss are quite and smoother but do t necessarily shoot straighter. Shoot what feels good to you! They are all good. It's just like Ford, chevy, dodge take ur pick we all have an opinion.
-
I miss my Switchback XT
-
Why, my current bow of course. Darton Maverick II. ;)
