Was wondering if i could get some advice for hunting this area..? if u have any tip, pics, or anything reply plz thx.. so stoked
-
I would say, check out the Little Rattle Snake area.
Fresher clearings from about 3 years ago and did some control burning up there the last few years.
Know guys that see bulls up there during MF.
-
ahhh ok thx.. is it all mainly timber? and I heard u had to take a quad most of the time?
-
yeah ill be heading over there soon... just want to get idea on where to scout mainly thx
-
Do u guys have any pics or know someone that has got drawn for this before and got a bull?
-
Here's one I got in 2003. I would listen to where those guys told you also!
-
thats a nice bull what did that score? im going to guess 320-330
-
as far as quads go you should talk with the forest service or fish and game becuz only a small area of bethel allows quads... and most of the little rattlesnake is closed due to flooding
-
oh ok.. would it be open by september? or is it really screwed up?
-
the road is completely washed out and I have heard that they aren't going to fix it. Budget thing.
-
Here is the closest thing is have to a Bethel Bull! Found these during general deer season several years ago.

Deer hunting is poor. Louse has killed a huge number of deer. Look at hunter success rates for all weapons for bethel ridge and surrounding units, it isn't very good. Good luck on your bull tag.
-
thx for the advice... im hoping for the best!
-
Check around bear lake area too. Just fished it n gatherin wood found some nice ol rubs from the past. And its thick too
-
alright sweet thx... u ever see any big bulls while ur out there?
-
Once when i was hunting deer n modern, was by trout lodge. I dont really spend too much time in that area other than tieton pond for early season camping and camping at bear lake a couple times this time of the year. Other than that im usually at rimrock or lil naches.
-
oh ok... anyone one else got any pics of recent bulls in the area that are alive... lol what to know what i might be working with over there
-

how big were the rubs?
-
Normal elk size, not sure how ya can tell the size of the bull by the rub :dunno:
-
oh ok... wish u would have taken a pic lol... looked at google earth and that is some really nice country..
-
heading over this weekend :)

As far as I know, you can access it via the devils canyon road from top and come down. And BLRman, you are right. they are not planning on fixing the road unless they absolutely have to.
Quads are illegal on all forest service roads. However they are legal on all the state land. The only place you can legally drive a quad on USFS lands is on the very few trails.
Does anyone know where the washout is exactly?
-
The little Rattlesnake is closed at the bottom. However, you can go up the big Rattlesnake and come down to where they have it closed from the top. I think its about a 3 mile section that is closed.
I was up Oak Creek yesterday and seen 4 good bulls. All appeared to be approaching the 5 and 6 points catagory. Hunt high and find the dark timber on the north slopes.

Drew that tag in 2006 and wasn't lucky enough to tag one but got into some real nice bulls. We camped up by the radio tower off of the jeep trail. Since it is not listed a FS road you can use a Quad on it.
-
I had the Quality hunt on bethel ridge last year for rifle. Are you hunting the Goose Prairie area? I know that area like the back of my hand if your interested in getting that tag filled?
-
Im actually headed over to Bethel this weekend for some scouting. Ill keep in touch.
-
This is a Bethel Bull I got last year.
-
Didnt you post this same pic sayin it was a goose prairie Bull :dunno:
-
Yeah its posted on the other thread as a goose bull :dunno: Now its bethel :dunno:
-
yeah, thats a bit odd
-
:yike: :bdid:
-
Maybe it's a Bethel bull, but he was standing in Goose Prairie when he shot it....
:IBCOOL: :chuckle: :IBCOOL: :chuckle: :IBCOOL: :chuckle:
Here's a pic of a Bethel bull I got in 2003...... while standing in the Bethel......
-
nice looking animal
-
Yeah its posted on the other thread as a goose bull :dunno: Now its bethel :dunno:
I'm assuming he means "Bethel ridge" bull. not Bethel unit.
-
Ok Im sorry.....Goose Prairie "GMU" on Bethel Ridge. Sorry I have to spell it out for ya....
-
Much better  Makes a little more sense that way.
Bethel bull= bethel unit.
This is a Bethel Bull I got last year.
Bethel ridge= Goose prairie
Since this was a post for bethel unit for archery season
-
Well, Goose Prairie isn't actually a GMU. It is just the name of a permit that includes the Bumping GMU and the Nile GMU.
-
Yes to you that is it. Ive been hunting the Goose prairie/Bumping area for so long that I always just refer it to Bethel Ridge and when I see Bethel on a post I think of Bethel Ridge. Always been that way. Didnt mean to confuse or make people have to start their finger punching investigations. I have seen the posts that go on in here and some people are not nice.
Thats why I dont post a lot of pics at all or the cool stories that go along with them. Sorry guys.
-
This Bull was probably from the "Bethel" unit at one point anyway :chuckle:
-
Just hard to follow along with things when it gets posted under diffrent areas. Makes a guy think o.k which is which. No investigations just trying to figure out whats what  No worries
-
Im actually headed over to Bethel this weekend for some scouting. Ill keep in touch.
So what did you see? How was the snow level?
-
lol... thx for the pic anyways..
-
Not too much snow at all. Lots of cows and a ton of goats. Did see 1 big boy that Im going to keep to myself.
-
what not nice... after i get the big daddy i will help u call in your satellite bull lol ;)
-
You get that bull yet?
-
Did you call in any monster bulls?
-
Ya I can tell u exactly where to go.. I just couldn't seal the deal and they started bugling really hard on the last day because of the weather
-
what not nice... after i get the big daddy i will help u call in your satellite bull lol ;)
Where you able to call in a satellite for thomasmx :dunno:
-
probably not colockum... there are no bulls in bethel to call, give the kid a break if there was a satalite bull he would have called it in
-
:yeah: Yep, definitely no bulls in there, especially bugling bulls. Can't fill a tag if there's no bull to fill it with and since he's the champ elk caller I'm sure he would've called one in a heartbeat. :chuckle:
-
That's right thanks for reminding me Plateau. All the bulls migrated across the highway to the Observatory. Thanks for keeping me straight Plat.
-
       now don't you go doing that again! Everybody knows they are being kept in your high fence pen in the Colockum! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Look at the harvest report for bethel..
-
31% for 2011
16.7% for 2010
35% for 2009
What's your point?
Other than 2010 those are excellent archery kill stats.
Everyone has one.

:yeah: I've been in the Bethel and heard the bulls bugling all over the place in several different areas, though you have to actually get out of the vehicle and walk, but they're in there, you just have to find them. I talked to several different groups of hunters awhile ago while in there and out of 5 groups 3 had tagged out and the other 2 groups still had a week left and were spending the whole time there so, I'm pretty sure they probably tagged out as well, though I don't know for sure.
Wait a minute, there is no elk in the bethel, goose prairie or observatory, they're all in the Colockum, sorry for the confusion. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Plateau I have no clue what you speak of. A little tip. If I were you I would lay real low if you see a black helicopter. :dunno: Just sayin :chuckle:
-
All the Indians took out the elk in the clockum so there must be no elk anywhere
-
All the Indians Bigfoot planted by the BMM took out the elk in the clockum so there must be no elk anywhere
There fixed it for you
-
All the Indians Bigfoot planted by the BMM CCC took out the elk in the clockum Blues, Observatory, Bethel and Goose Prairie so there must be no elk anywhere
There fixed it for you
:lol4: Now that's a little more believable, a little, not a lot, but a little...Oh wait a minute, the CCC is running propaganda again and trying to shift blame again! I'm not falling for that again Colock, nice try and don't worry I fixed it for you. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
