There are a lot of bulls in that unit all over, especially durringthe rut, you should not have much of a problem getting in to elk. Do your scouting and get to know the area you are going to hunt.
Norsepeak is the local hunting guide in the area and I know he has several huge bulls waiting for him to bring the hunter to them :chuckle: He is a good caller and will you would have the pick of the bull you desire. Send him a PM ;)

Its not that far away from you. Drop over Hwy 12 to Hwy 410, and head west. You will be in your unit in less the 10 miles :tup:

This is too big of a unit to go in and hunt blind. :twocents: :twocents: I live not too far from this unit and spend a lot of time there. I still contacted Norsepeak and he helped me out.

OCT1-10 you could kill one driving the roads, if that is what you want to do, other wise hit the deep canyons and you will find the elk....

I'd give an awful lot for that tag.
If you're even slightly serious about elk hunting, you do not want to waste that tag. Some of the most beautiful country you'll ever be able to hunt elk in.

The multi season only allows him to hunt modern, muzzleloader and archery on the eastside because he has an eastside tag. He doesnt have a westside tag, so there is no way for him to hunt the Winston unit.
One of my buddies has the same tag this year and said he wouldnt settle for anything less than 330, even though he has seen a few bigger bulls while scouting.

Becides I like the November time frame better (you know meat can spoil in the warmer weather). Anyways if anyone is interested in sharing info on hunting the winston I have some good contacts.

Multi-season elk tag allows you to hunt both sides of the state. The multi-season tag is neither a westside nor an eastside tag.Boom.

Up the price of apps much more and I won't be buying them either!!!! Already spent over a $100 on apps this year and didn't draw a single thing.... If Quality was $50 each not many would buy...... So in reality you would make "Quality" tags in WA a rich mans sport.... I don't think many people would be able to justify spending that much for a nill chance at the dream...... First of all, the guy never had the tag, he is and idiot that thinks he's funny. Second, I pay nearly $200 already to hunt and fish in this state and apply for tags, that is plenty. Upping the price so only the wealthy can hunt is not the answer. And why on earth do you think you have to have a lot of money to be a serious hunter?

I already said from now on I'm going to apply for that margeret unit or maybe the mudflow they sound like easier hunts. I don't have alot of money either, I barely had enough to outfit my boy and me with that sitka raingear and diesel for the truck. The guys at monster muley are not this rude

I've learned a ton from fellow hunters.
One thing, don't ask for honey holes.
Don't ask for best areas.
Don't position yourself for a tag and then say you can't scout.
Driving 300 miles to an area is nothing when it is an almost sure thing.
You need to look at the harvest reports.
You need to wear out some leather and rubber.
You need to earn respect from your peer hunters, as they expect that from you too.
I can't tell if your jesting, but it sure appears that way and if it is well you have made no friends. If you are for real, you need to own up to this thread and explain to us what the real story is. Heck, if this is a joke--own up to it too! Everyone can take a joke, but someone with intentions to take others for what info they can share is not a joker but a thief. :twocents:

This has also been a pet peve of mine.. Bull elk tags in this state are getting to be a once in a lifetime type thing. Why would you put in for a tag you know nothing about . You just robbed someone who has been itching for years to get that tag.
Now I know this is a free country and you can do as you wish but wasting a tag like that because of the reasons you stated is ridiculous..
Also being aloof as you have been you are not making friends with anyone here. There are a Ton of excellent people on this site. Quality people, and yes Christian people.. I have met many, helped many and many have helped me. So please do not come on this forum ask for advice and then when people ask questions ignore them... Just my :twocents:

I will be hunting 346 in... 4 and half days... I don't have a tag for a bull or a cow... I'll be looking for a spike like the other 99%. I have worked my ass off to scout this country, research roads, watch the weather (taught myself what the hell La Nina even was), researched the Yakima elk herd native to this area and even the surrounding elk herds (North rainier). I've stayed up until I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore looking at topography maps of the area, google earth, studying the harvest reports from the last three years. I have done everything I could possibly do for a slim to none chance at an elk and you don't want to hunt this tag because it's too much area for you to scout? Not one of those smiley face emoticons displays my frustration with this.
