Title: Wolfs in mudflow area?
Post by: h2ofowlr on June 26, 2011, 09:22:24 PM: I was up scouting the mudflow area this am and had about 5 possible wolves howling at 5:30 am. Long howls not the yap of yotes as I hear those daily around my house. Any reported sightings in the area? I did not see them but they were within about a 150 yards of us. They were at the 34 mile marker up the Spirit Lake HWY. Never saw them, but they definitely didn't sound like yotes as they gave us a good howling show for about 5 minutes.

The elk we ran into were very skittish and broken up in small groups. Last year I was able to get go photos of them, they wouldn't even let me get the camera out this time. It should be an interesting hunt this season.

Post by: doubletap.338 on September 27, 2011, 11:09:51 AM: I took this pic 9/18/2011 about a 1/4 mile from Snow lake on Cold water trail 211 (boundary trail for the 522 and 524 GMU's). It had been raining all day and there were no human tracks. :dunno:

It's a perfect place for them to be planted and get a good foot hold. Why even bother letting WDFW know? they already know. We need to get good proof to prove that we know what they know. When it comes out to the public they will have some story how they migrated on their own. BS They were planted.

They are absolutely being planted.

You are completely wrong. They are walking there, every biologist I have spoken to is amazed at their long legged ability to expand habitat in the Cascades. But they are not being planted.

Secret planting would be a serious violation of the EIS regulations, firmly against Congressional mandate and a conspiracy worthy of Dick Cheney. :bash:

:yeah:
i heard the same probably almost a year ago. also heard a couple wolfs got planted up white pass somewhere around the same time. i just thought it was rumors or gossip...

Post by: kglacken on September 28, 2011, 10:01:17 PM: Thats crazy to think that they are here now. I hunted the mudflow last year and saw a ton of "coyote" tracks. I didnt even think to stop and look at the sizes. maybe they were not just coyote tracks? :dunno:

One young wolf traveled through 5 states and something like 700 miles in 6 months, if I remember correctly it ended up getting posioned in Colorado, they found it dead. It's only about 300 miles from the Idaho border to any point in the cascades.

I know it's easy to get drawn into thinking WDFW is planting wolves, but I honestly do not think they are. These wolves are running out of food in some areas of Idaho and they are looking for new game rich country to hunt in. If you look at the wolf kills so far in Idaho, none have been killed in the LOLO, many have left because there's nothing left to eat.

In my heart I believe these wolves are simply expanding their territory. I also know from the weekly wolf reports coming in from hunters and ranchers that WDFW is way behind on documenting wolves. These 100+ wolves we have now are going to be raising pups every year, I truly believe that in a year or two we will have wolves in every part of Washington. Just here in the northeast where I live, it is unbelievable how fast wolves are expanding in numbers.

IF I SEE GROUP BIOS, OFFICERS RELEASED WOLVES I would fight on officers till I am Jailed. But Possible people like normal as neighorhood or somewhere who loves wolves they probablly own 1,000- 13,000acerage or bigger rancher over Id, Mt, Missu. they could trap few with out people know and haul out over other side and dump wolves. Its totally EASY to do that. U cant image how many trucks with capony cover it, drive all over American. I cant catch crook who doing stupid thing to piss us off by dump wolves in to different area. How many Meth with camper in forest, how many drugs u can find. its everything they can do in any state by not get caught... How many Mexican flee in to american by not catch them. They could easy dump wolf anywhere. :bash:
Wolves moving long way easy when hunter or people got in wolves way they will move down quickly to find a huge area to settle down.
I would like Pic of trailcamera, or scat, or dead wolf. :chuckle:

It will spread faster this year since Idaho hunter start to shoot them more. We expect to get closer to 15 packs by next year.

Post by: fillthefreezer on September 29, 2011, 04:09:57 PM: for reference, my german shepherds had 2 litters from my female who was only 1 yr old, in less than 12 months time totalling 21 pups. i assume wolves if well nourished are capable of the same... about 50/50 males to females. so after 3 years how many breeding females do you have just from that first year...

Then there is always the possibility it is a Cascadian Grey wolf and they aren't extinct after all. Of course I don't figure it to be too far fetched that wolves may have been released either, maybe not officialy :rolleyes:, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Then again my dad said he saw a wolf in the Fawn Lake area about 15 years ago, we were up fishing I was with him but didnot see it myself. I would like to think however my dad knew what a coyote looked like and the differences, he said it was big and darker colored.

There could be another source for them besides migration. A few years ago a guy in Kid Valley had some "pet" wildlife that he was feeding roadkill. The DOT stopped letting him pick up the dead deer so he didn't have any food for his wolves so he let them go. (This is just what I heard locally--didn't see these released wolves myself) My Dad swears he saw one on Hatchet Mtn. Could these be the wolves that are on the mudflow.....

I am serious, they are destroying this state's wildlife resources by PLANTING animals that are not nor ever were native to our state...... is that not enough grounds for a lawsuit? If every sportsman just signed on to this plan, it might make a dent somewhere, heck if we just had more people join WFW.....
