How to use other features of the forum.

Ignore Boards
Look in the "Quick Links" block in the top right corner of the forum home page. Click on "Ignore Boards" and you can ignore any board on the forum. "Ignoring a Board" will prevent topics from any board you choose from showing in "Recent Topics" or in the "Show unread posts since last visit."  However, new replies to any topic in which you have posted will show in the "Show new replies to your posts." You can still look and respond to any topics in any ignored board that you wish.

Copy the link in your browser window and post it here on the forum.

Just a heads up that the Ignore Boards in the upper right hand corner under quick links, is spelled wrong.

This is a great site and I appreciate all the work you put into it.To make it better.

It's dangerous what can happen late at night.  :chuckle:

Is that option and link working for everyone?

How about a hiking/conditions reports/where to camp board? Gather it all in one area, rather than randomly in different boards.

I like swanny's suggestion. I hate having to go to the  :tree1:'s sites to check trail conditions. They make me want to  :puke:

I haven't seen what you guys are talking about specifically.

Do you have some links I could look at to see exactly what you are asking for?

Here are two of the larger sites for checking specific trail conditions.

http://www.nwhikers.net/ (http://www.nwhikers.net/)

http://www.wta.org/ (http://www.wta.org/)

I think if there were a section where people could post a report of where they were and also a board where people could ask about conditions whether it's road/trail/snow line for certain areas it would clean up the General Discussion area.

I have a question - there are two boards with "word games" I have posted on and I tried to click the 'unnotify' buttons in the boards and on my notification tab in the profile but I keep getting updates on them. Is the ignore button you speak of the way to do this? I dont really want to get updates of new replies but I'd still like to be able to see the topics on the overall list - is there a way to do this?

I also want to say thanks for all your work on this. I am fairly new to this site still but I think its great. I send all my hunting/fishing/shooting buddies this way!

trippledigitss, if you ignore a board you will not see any of those topics in the recent topics, I don't know if it will eliminate the notifications.

The ignore feature is not for the purpose of stopping notifications. Clicking the "unnotify" button should do what you're trying to do. I'm not sure why it's not working for you.

OK - thanks, I'll try it. I would like to stop them showing up in my "show new replies to you posts" sections. Thanks again!

Nope - its not working. I thought maybe it was something to do with my browser or computer so I tried it from a couple different ones and I still get the  notifications. Oh well, its not that big of deal anyway. Thanks for the help!

I don't ever use the notify feature so I'm not much help. But I'll start using it and see how it works for me. When you click on "UNNOTIFY" does it change back to "NOTIFY"?   (it should)

Yes - it does change but I still get notifications. Even after I went to the section in profile and removed them from there.  :dunno:

Come to think of it I've even tried to get notifications from a board I didnt post on, like the Pay it Forward thread and it didnt work so I had to post something just to get the updates.

I went in and was trying to play with this new profile feature.  It will not let me add photos, or edit buddy list, etc....  Has this been turned on yet?

Play around with it. I just went to my profile page, clicked on the heading "Profile Pictures" then click "Add picture".

Hi Bearpaw, I use my Iphone with taptalk a lot to view the site and it works great when on the go, but with that I can only get to the forum topics. Would it be possible to put a link in the equipment section to get to the classified?

I would do that if that is the only way, but first would you look at the menu on top of the forum or look at the "Quick Links" on the top right, there is a link in both places for the classifieds.

Thanks Bearpaw, when you are on TapTalk all you can see is the Forum main titles and when you click on them you get the sub-titles under each one. you can't see the links at the top or the quick links on  the side. If you can't no big deal I can wait till I get on the computer to look at the classified and it may help out my wallet. :chuckle:

I would like to see a new board for hunting partners. It seems we always havenew people looking for hunting, fishing, hiking, etc companions. Say if someone is heading over to scout elk in the Blues and is looking for someone to go along and maybe split costs then they can post it and maybe hookup with someone.

Just scroll down the forum a few boards below the General Discussion board, you can't miss them "Member Classifieds".

If the classifieds get too busy, we may break it down, for now it's doing fine.

No problem, we will be deleting the old classifieds soon because too many members can't get them to work after our last upgrade. Something must not be compatable with the new software.

Just curious what the little colored squares above the avatars signify?
I notice there can be different number of them and different colors.

It's a feature built into the forum software and it's based on post count.
