Title: new treestand?
Post by: Button Nubbs on July 04, 2011, 06:15:51 PM: I'm in the market for a new treestand. I'm gonna hang it on one of the trails I have my cameras on and wait for an elk to come walking by. I realize I am probably going to be spending A LOT of time in the tree but I feel it is the best way to hunt this area. What I'm looking for is a hang-on stand that is going to provide superior comfort so I can stay in the stand as long as possible. I think I've narrowed it down to two choices.

Millenium m-100
I have heard this stand is the cadillac of hang ons and quite possibly the most comfortable stand on the market. I really like the reciever bracket for mounting idea also. The only down side is its a little spendy.

Gorilla pro-series king kong hx
I have also heard great things about the comfort of this stand and like the armrest idea. It is cheaper than the millenium.

I won't give a damn how much the stand costs if it means I can shoot a bull out of it sitting from dark to dark (gonna be tough I know). I just want to be comfortable so I can spend every minute possible in that tree.

Do you guys have any expierence with either? What do you reccomend? Any other hang-ons I've overlooked?

I use them for "shorter" sits evening/ morning 4 hour max. I have the Gorilla which is my most comfortable. Most of the hang-ons have a straight back and you can't really relax in them. Hunting Solutions The Millennium has a comfortable hang-on stand that my friend uses. I found it comfortable, but hard to get out of it quietly when your ready to stand-up and shoot. IMO the most comfortable are the climbers (I like the Summit). I can stay in them all day (even had a few naps on quiet warm days), I feel secure when I stand up to shoot. If you have a tree that will allow you to use a climber I feel that's you best option for comfort.

I'm a big guy so the bigger seat and platform was a necessity for me. I bought a tree pad (pad designed to strap to a tree) because I found that my jacket rubbing against tree bark sounded like ripping velcro apart. I had a HS mesh vest for a harness. I kept the strap short enough that while sitting I could almost touch the platform. Don't know how many times I caught a cat nap in it. Do know that I woke up a few times to the sensation of falling forward. :yike: The big platform also allowed me to stand up and get the blood back into my legs after sitting there for a while. I screwed a step in behind my shoulder so I could hang my backpack on it. I was also lucky enough to have a limb right above and going away from my stand that I could hang my bow on a bow hook. I could reach out and grab my bow with minimal movement.

Post by: yajsab on July 05, 2011, 09:33:22 AM: I think if you're planning to sit all day waiting for the quality bull, you should go with a climber instead. With that said, my friend has a Gorilla and it was ok. I find it uncomfortable to sit on it for long hours.

If your going for long sits, then that is the way to go. i spent many hours sleeping..... I mean hunting i out of one of these for archery elk in oregon. I should have bought it. :bash:

then i get over to germany and my forster that i hunt with whips out an american made tree lounge. lol. he said it was the most comfortable old man easy stand he could find.

if everythign was tightened up nice, i got to where i could climb pretty quiet.

heck, if you wanted you could set it up in the tree and put up ladder pegs and leave it. They are that safe.

I have one of these. I swear by it. You can go as high up in the tree as you dare. And your correct as the worst part of this climber is that it is so damn comfortable you end up taking alot of naps.
