I've got some decent pics from this cam last yeay but after two 2 week soaks I've only gotten 1 pic of a deer. The cam seems to be taking pic of me when entering/exiting the area. The trails that the cam is set up on have had decent and recent activity that the cam is not picking up. Anyone have any experience with this cam? I am thinking about picking up some $40 Tasco's that I hear so much about.

Thats it, I'm going to pick up two more. Do they use the standard Scandisk cards? Did you pick it up at Wallmart?

Yep standard 2gig scandisk. Trigger speed is a little slow keep that in mind. I got 2 from amazon and 1 from wallyworld.

i have an older moultrie that wont take pictures until i move around in front of it for like 10 seconds.
my experience says cuddyback or the bushnell cams..... great luck with them and nothing gets by without a picture

I've got a couple D40's and have been really happy with them over the years?? If anything, mine have been oversensitive. Had one take 1180 pics of a blade of grass. Are you positive there is activity on this trail?

I have 1 D40 thats about 4 years old... and I'll get any where from 30-60 pics a day

Great battery life, and dependability out of the D-50's for me. Price is great also. Pic quality is decent. Quality of the pic is not my concern though, but quality of the game I'm relying on them picking up, is. ;)

Aren't the tascos the ones with crappy flash?
If I was going cheap I would get Wildviews.

I'll never buy another Moultrie I had 2 that never worked straight from cabelas and one that lasted a little over a season it stopped taking pictures between 6pm and 9am (right during prime time). The only thing worse than the Moultrie trail cams is their customer service. I like my wild game innovations X6X, just got a new Archery Choice Stealth cam, not really happy with the picture quality what I do like about it, is it will take up to 9 consecutive pictures which you can miss the big bucks or bulls in bachelor groups with a single shot frame. I'm probably not going to get another stealth cam though. It seems as if every body on here has either Bushnell trophy cam or the Tasco's only thing about the Bushnell is the $. I don't own a tasco but looking at every buddy's pictures it hit and miss. I say you get what you pay for, we spend all this money on our bow's, gun's, gear and optics, I say save up the for one more month and get a Bushnell.

No. I was in the area and jumped two deer off the trail and there were real fresh tracks on aother part of the trail not 15 feet away but I may have put it just in the wrong spot.
I need to pull it out of the woods and test it. I've just picked up two of the Tasco's from Wallmart and I plan on setting them both up this weekend

I've come to the conclusion that critters are just as lazy as we are, and stick to the easy trails if not pushed. I got a Wildgame IR3D with a 2GB SD card for $65 and put it in a spot that I thought was hot for 2 weeks and got zip. Moved it last week to an easy well-used crossing at a spring, and got pics of 2 deer. With all the wind the past few weeks, I got pics of moving weeds and nettles, too. Now that it's getting hot, I figure there will be more activity at my water source once the others dry up, but right now food and water is easy to find.

I've got two Moultrie D40's and they work great for me. I've got two out right now and they've been working perfectly. One of them has been out since March, the other one only for a couple weeks. Both units are a couple years old and have seen plenty of use. The pictures aren't always the clearest, but they seem to always take pictures if they're on trails that are getting used.
