So i planted my trail cam for the first time 2 weeks ago and just went to get it on the 4th of july. I was pretty happy with the results, many deer and a few elk. No bulls or big bucks yet. For some reason the camera was open when i got to it and the last picture on it was the one of the stump and a little fur on the side. WHat are your thoughts on this mysterious animal that opened up my camera.

Deer butt. Cameras don't open themselves, so I'd say someone found it and didn't want their picture taken as they walked off. They opened it, put the card in their digital camera to see if there was anything there or pics of them, then put it back and left the lid open so they could walk in front of it. Lucky they didn't steal it. Also, could have been a bear; they love to monkey with trail cameras.

I was thinking it was the south end of a north bound elk. But I suppose it could be a deer as well.

looks like both pics of the deer are bucks

Definitely elk butt. Look at the tail.

Elk butt..... See the light color and tail.... And like said earlier... A person probably found your camera.... Time for a lock box before it's gone.......... A bear would more then likely been caught on camera messing with it.... They don't care.....
