Just so you guys and girls know, it's awesome. What a gorgeous lake to be catching those gorgeous fish. Oh yeah people, there are fish away from all the boats. I got sucked into them also but caught most fish away from the others. Have fun peoples!

Was up there yesterday and yes the boat launch can be a zoo but once you get out there you can just stick to the perimeter of the other boats and do just well.

One of my dads and one of mine. All the good shots were on dads camera.

that bottom one is a good one.

Aw yeah. Very cool. Nice goin'!

How early does a guy need to be at a launch tomorrow to get a place to park? Are all of the launches suitable to halfway float off a 16' sled?
-
yeah head up here and catch some since we have had a record number and the state would rather pile all Washingtonians into one lake to combat fish ...WOW how much fun is that ... AND do you guys know that the sockeye in L.K wASHINGTON COME FROM BAKER LAKE ... HOW SWEEEET IS THAT BUT NO They can not open the skagit river when they are thick as humpies ....30,000 sockeye have been threw the baker river since the new trap was built .... HUH ..... But lets not catch them in the river and let people enjoy the resource .....BUT BE SURE TO ALWAYS BUY A FISHING LICENSE :yeah:

It is something that I want to do...ONCE. I'm definitely not a "crowd" guy, but I'm stuck at home this weekend. Otherwise, I would be on the east side of the state.

Well since I live about 20 min from Baker Lake I figured I might as well join the madness & see if I could catch some Sockeye this morning. We arrived at 5:30 & it only took us 15 min to launch & yes there was a armada of Boats out there I'm guessing 250 or so but it really wasn't a big deal at all. We ended up catching a few & losing a few & when we left at 11:30 fish were still being landed here & there.I'm hearing that they're dumping about 1,500 fish a day in the lake so there's plenty of Sockeye to be had. That being said I'm assuming if you launch around 4-4:30 it's probably going to be a cluster #*%^. :yike:

no it's not much fun.. hopefully some day we will get what we paid into and receive more fishing opportunity which would definitely distribute the fishermen and we can once again enjoy a peaceful stressless day on the water.

Thanks for the help 50Cal, apparently I would have had better luck asking for GPS coordinates to someones duck blind? I did get on the water. BTW, nice bull in your avatar, is that a Nooksack bull?

Singleshot and Bowhunter,
It appears the state or PSE is actually working on some major improvements for this fishery recently. I'm being a little optimistic here(ok, a lot) but if things continue to develop the way they have over the last few years, I would think they would open a fishery in the river? My question to you guys is, while on the lake, it seemed like 50% of the boats were sleds, out of, I'll take at stab at say 200+ boats? Anyway, when those sleds including mine start fishing the river, is there really enough facilities and space to accomodate that?

Yes thats last yrs Nooksack Bull. Bucklucky has it now & he wont give it back to me. P.S I know 3 guys who went to Baker this morning & they were limited out by 8:30am.

I dont want to drag my boat up there, i see that there is a road from the north end that takes goes to the noisey creek at the lake shore, anyone know if its drivable, thinking of rowing the pontoon boat, if i can get close enough to holding areas.

Congrats on a great elk, if I followed this site more often I probaby would have heard about it. As it turned out I got my a$$ kicked on Sat. I don't think the bite was great but it was good enough that some boats did relatively well, most boats did not. I broke one off, put one back and missed another. It pissed me off that I wasn't smart enough to catch a frickin' sockeye, so I made some adjustments and went back Sunday. I was done at 7:00, the changes helped and Sunday seemed to be a much better bite.
Gearhead, I don't know enough to help you, other than if you can put in at the mouth of Noisy, I think you are close enough.

Hey SeaTown5. Any current reports for Baker? Heading up there today for 3 days.

I went up on the 2nd and had a great day, then went on the fifth and only hooked/landed one :bash:. Good luck, it seems to be slowing down but you never know with fishing. The last one i caught though did seem to be getting a bit uglier. Hurry up and get in there before theyve gone red
