pictures pictures pictures....oh yeah congrats
-
Here is what I know.
Talked with D-Rock on the phone. He spotted the little bugger just off the path he was working up and spooked it up a tree. Doesn't sound like a very big bear but sounds like a pretty one. He mentioned that it will go a bit over 100 pounds and has a real nice white patch on its chest. Well, it ran off a bit and up a tree. He popped it once and it simply climed a bit more. 2nd shot took care of it and down it came. He has done the knife work so far and is walking back to get his cart to haul it out. He said he can't post pics from his phone. BUT........he is going to email me so I can post if up.

One less fawn killer in the woods!
Since you have to turn that collar in to the state, take photo and have it decopaged on a plaque that you can with the bear rug on the wall.
Nice job.

-
D-Rock...thanks again for stopping by last night. Even the wife agreed that it was pretty cool for my boy to come out in his pj's to check out the bear. He was talking about it right up to the point when he fell back asleep. Now I'm really jacked for the weekend. My turn now.
-
Nice bear D-Rock-
-
When do you find out about the collar?
-
I will call today.
-
How long did it take you to get that boy skinned out last night? Plans for the skull/hide/mount?
-
Nice bear! Congrats!
-
Dem bears are droppin! Nice work man! Collared even! Cool. Congrats.
-
I was done skinning at 1130 and had everything cleaned up another 1am.
-
Nicely done D-Rock
-
Good work! Nice bear
-
good work
-
Game department is going to call me back with info on the ear tag and collar. She told me they don't like the animals to be consumed with in 60 days of being tag. Well that's great because I already dropped him off at the butcher this morning. Lets hope its been more than 60 or I killed the little bugger for nothing :bash:
-
Congrats on the bear.
As for the DFW, you would think they wouldn't tag anything within 60 days of the opening of the season. Good luck.
-
You would think so but he may have been a recent problem child.
-
Just don't shoot ones with collars and no worries. They have relocated a record number of bears. All the food is down low do to late summer and heavy snow fall. Most berries were buried over the 4,000 ft mark, with some exceptions on south facing slopes.
-
A buddy of mine shot one last year that had a tag and he had to trash all of the meat. Hope that's not the case d-rock...
-
Nice Bear congrats! Still got another month before I'll start hunting.
-
Helped my buddy with his sons first bear last night. Great Job to you nice bear!! :IBCOOL:
heading out this weekend to my honey hole.
-
I was up in the same area, didn't know until this morning that the person who I crossed paths with that had all the luck last night would actually be on this forum.
My night was initially full of disappointment. I walked up to find someone had stolen one of my cams... :-( If you're on here, its a Primos Truth Cam 35 and I'd love it back... just put it back on the same tree please!
I didn't know until I got home, but the bear D-Rock got and D-Rock himself were on my other cam that wasn't stolen yet (thanks D-Rock for leaving it alone), so I thought I'd post a couple of the pics per request.
-
That close up really gives you an idea of how ugly D-Rock is when you get up close.
Thats pretty cool that you have him on cam as well as the bear. I've had a chance to hang out, hike, and do some shooting with this D-Rock fella. Stand up guy and the last person that would nab your cam. Cool pics.
What's up with the purple?
-
Yea your right he is pretty homely looking!! :chuckle:
-
er... which one is D-Rock? :chuckle:
-
I dont know what is with the discoloration. That cam always looks like that. I'd love to report back and say if my other cam (also a Truth Cam 35) performed the same way, but someone else owns it now >:(
-
The older Guy I talked to yesterday on my way back in with my cart said he saw 2 collared bears last week while scouting. This was before I even told him mine had a collar.
-
Talked to the game department I'm ok to eat boo boo :IBCOOL: he was relocated in that area in may of this year. I should find out more when I drop of the collar and tag tomorrow.
-
Now he has been REALLY relocated.
-
Did you use your new RMEF gun to harvest this bear?
-
i really love this up to date info, from time of kill-picts-finished skinning to ok to eat. great job D-ROCK. thanks for taking us along.
-
I didn't goldeneye I'm just to faithful to old Betsy.
-
LOL! I can relate. I have one old wingmaster that I can't fully retire. It's a good gun...
-
I returned the collar to the game department today she told me that 3 bears were released in that are the biggest being 192 pounds when released. Then two more bears where released one small bear being about 70 pounds when released Then the middle sized bear that I shot. She told me 28 bears have been released this year some all the way to Idaho.
-
any word on why/where bobo was caught?
-
No. She said most are in places they are not welcome or mother was killed somehow.
-
damn would of been cool to have some back story like it was raiding trash cans around chelan or anything.. either way good job!
