I received this back in response to my letter regarding the wolf plan. There's important information about viewing the meetings and attending meeting tomorrow and around the state.
"Thank you for your comments on the Department’s Recommended Wolf Conservation and Management Plan for Washington and accompanying Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS). Your message has been forwarded to each of the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission (Commission) members.
The Commission will receive detailed briefings on the plan during a series of special meetings, the first of which is scheduled for August 4, 2011, in Olympia. This agenda is available for viewing on the Internet at: <http://wdfw.wa.gov/commission/meetings/2011/08/agenda_aug0411.html>. TVW plans to broadcast this meeting live on the Internet (webcast). Once the meeting begins, the live webcast coverage will be viewable on TVW’s website: <http://www.tvw.org/media/liveevents.cfm?bhcp=1>. Check the TVW programming schedule <http://www.tvw.org/menuitems/tvschedule.cfm?bhcp=1> for later television broadcasts.
The Commission will hold additional special meetings to continue its discussions on the Recommended Wolf Conservation and Management Plan and hear public input. Those meetings are tentatively scheduled for:
· August 29 (Ellensburg)
· October 6 (Olympia)
· November 3 (Olympia)
The Commission may consider taking final action on the plan at its December 2-3, 2011, meeting in Olympia. For agenda revisions, meeting materials and additional information, visit the Commission’s web page at: <http://wdfw.wa.gov/commission/meetings/2011/index.html>. All Commission meetings, including the above, are open to the public and recorded by Commission staff. Audio recordings are available for listening to electronically on the Internet a week or so following each meeting. To access audio transcripts of past meetings, click on this link: <http://wdfw.wa.gov/commission/meetings/2011/index.html>, or copy and paste the html address into your web browser.

Looks like you may have got some attention. Good job!
-
It's a canned response, but at least they've confirmed it'll get to each of the commissioners individually. The more important info is the ability for us to watch the televised proceedings tomorrow with the webcast.
-
Anyone going? Can you ask a question for me, WHY is there no meetings on the eastside?
-
I can't because of work. I know a few guys have said they're going. Either Bearpaw or killbilly may be going, and jshunt has expressed tentative plans to attend.
I would imagine not planning anything on the east side is a good way to try and exclude the people this will hurt the most. It doesn't seem to make sense there aren't any meetings over there.

And they planned all the meetings during hunting season.

Cause that's where most of the wolves live. Duh. They don't want to here from the people who actually have to live with these Wolves.they are irrelevant.

You want to vomit... I was there and couldn't leave.

woohoo the guy in the green
who was the guy in green? did you get his name
-
I am bad at remembering names :bash:, he was from a group that has worked with wdfw for 13 years to raise the ungulates population, and completly shot down most of the wolf lovers ideas. stating how only 9 out of 13 herds are at their quota and if the wolves are introduced to this area they will most likly never meet their quota. anybody chace his name or who he was with?

Dear Wildlife Commission Members,
I am writing this letter in regards to the wolf management plan that you are currently taking public comments on. I would like to take this time to remind you of the mandate of department and commission. In the mandate it states that the department and commission shall attempt to maximize recreational hunting opportunity for all citizens. I strongly suggest you review the plan and make sure that the final decision of this commission makes every effort to maximize hunter opportunity for wolves after the minimum sustainable number of wolves has been reached. This is crucial for keeping wolf population under control and for meeting the mandate given to you by the legislature of Washington state. This commission must approve a management plan for wolves that is based off sustainable populations of wolves and maximum recreational hunting. Any plan based on anything else, like say anti-hunting public opinion, will not meet the mandate of the department and commission. It has become increasingly clear that this department and commission have been making changes to hunting seasons for our wildlife, especially our predators, that are not based on biological, safety or management reasons and are not only failing to maximize recreational hunting opportunity but are actively reducing it.
I have included the mandate below for your reference.
Thanks you for you time.
Naithan Kain
RCW 77.04.012
Mandate of department and commission.
Wildlife, fish, and shellfish are the property of the state. The commission, director, and the department shall preserve, protect, perpetuate, and manage the wildlife and food fish, game fish, and shellfish in state waters and offshore waters.
The department shall conserve the wildlife and food fish, game fish, and shellfish resources in a manner that does not impair the resource. In a manner consistent with this goal, the department shall seek to maintain the economic well-being and stability of the fishing industry in the state. The department shall promote orderly fisheries and shall enhance and improve recreational and commercial fishing in this state.
The commission may authorize the taking of wildlife, food fish, game fish, and shellfish only at times or places, or in manners or quantities, as in the judgment of the commission does not impair the supply of these resources.
The commission shall attempt to maximize the public recreational game fishing and hunting opportunities of all citizens, including juvenile, disabled, and senior citizens.
Recognizing that the management of our state wildlife, food fish, game fish, and shellfish resources depends heavily on the assistance of volunteers, the department shall work cooperatively with volunteer groups and individuals to achieve the goals of this title to the greatest extent possible.
Nothing in this title shall be construed to infringe on the right of a private property owner to control the owner's private property.

Notes:
State policy regarding improvement of recreational salmon fishing: See note following RCW 77.65.150.

We have a huge problem in that hunting groups are not being represented at commission meetings. If anyone belongs to another group, we need your group to send someone to these meetings.
-
 good one kain!

Sounds like we are being heard ..thats a big plus.. good job everyone

Thanks once again Al, for taking the time to go. I should've been there, but I couldn't.

In all honesty, it was a long day but a real eye opener to say the least. I was pleased that the commission found so many holes in the report and ask for clarification on many many items. The team walked away with enough action items to fill a week of research and providing answers. One of the things that got my attention as well as it did the commission was that they stated that washington had as much suitable habitat as Oregon, Idaho and Montana....the team argued that every model they applied gave the same results. I don't think anyone there believed that. It will be interesting to see there answers at the August 29th meeting.
-
Thanks KillBilly for attending and the report.
