Does anybody know of any results being posted? The results were posted online last year by August 3rd! It's now the 4th and still no sign of results that I can see. I guess I get to feel the excitement of possibly winning for another few days before finding out the real news... Good luck to everyone!
-
I know the results. I threw away $30.
-
I threw away a couple hundred. I realized this after I looked at last years and the winner of two of the multi-tags spent about $30,000. Every Joe Blow that bought at least 1 ticket stands a chance, but I have a feeling that most of us bought a ticket so that we could dream about the dream hunt rather than go on it.
-
:yeah:
-
Are they going to post the results again this year? They say that the winners will be notified by phone and mail, but I hope they post them as well.
-
I called the main office today.... The woman I talked to said that winners would be notified via phone and mail.
...and she double checked for me that the results would be available online again this year. (probably before official notification)
Results online mid next week. :)
-
I'm betting I lost another $100.... It was gone anyways though.... :hello:

$100....that cheap. I am betting that I lost about $350 between my fiance and myself. I dont know why I buy into the WDFW bs every year, but Im addicted to hunting and I fall for it time and time again. :bash:
Some guys spend hundreds of bucks on season tickets and I spend it on hunting...........then watch sports on tv. Maybe I will get lucky one day! :chuckle:
-
I know I will win... I just know it.......... Not
-
I know I will win... I just know it.......... Not
Well someones got to and if you bought tickets, then you got about the same chance as the rest of us!
-
I know the results. I threw away $30.
LOL, I know the feeling.
-
How do you get results?? With two guys claiming that they didn't get drawn... I like my odds!!!
-
With the chances of getting one, I am not to worried about it :chuckle:
-
Here is the link to view last year's results: http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/permits/raffles/lookup.html (http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/permits/raffles/lookup.html)
The results last year were available August 3rd, so they should be available any time now. I've just cursed whoever didnt know that cause you'll check the link about 112 times before the results are posted.
I checked my odds with the tickets that have been currently sold (http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/permits/raffles/ (http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/permits/raffles/)) and I have a combined 1.6% chance of drawing one of the raffles I put in for. That means that 1 in 62.5 years I'd draw something....unfortuntely that's better odds than i had this year in the regular permit hunts. :bash:
-
Every Joe Blow that bought at least 1 ticket stands a chance, but I have a feeling that most of us bought a ticket so that we could dream about the dream hunt rather than go on it.
Thats essentially it
-
Been so busy biotching about discover passes, closed roads in the Manashtash, and fees going up I forgot all about this! Still only last years results
-
I went whole hog on a couple of the raffles. Impatiently waiting.
-
Whole hog, eh? I went whole $100... still have very high expectations. Bought tickets in 4 seperate raffles, I figure that I'll win at least two of them.
-
I only went for the ones that it looked like we had better chances than our S/P draws. about $50 between 2 of us
-
I'm betting I wasted $22.10.
John

No one else got a phone call huh?! 8) nwhunter
-
I wonder if there was some kind of problem with the drawing?
-
I heard from the brother-in-law of my cousins friend's sister that there was some trouble with illegal ticket purchases from some out of state people.
-

I heard the same thing from my baby momma's, niece's, nephew's, grand pappy's, son's friend..... :chuckle:

Congrats! What tag did you draw?

If the tickets were "purchased" how were they illegal? Just wondering...
-
Will someone post when their up?
-
I had also heard there was some sort of illegal activity :yike: but don't have any specifics.
-
I assume the "illegal" activity could have been selling tickets over the phone to an out-of-stater that didnt want to drive up here and buy the tickets. They're probably trying to figure out whether or not to count their tickets as legit or give him a refund or keep the money but make is so that they cant win even if drawn. It is more than a week later than the results came out last year so there must be some kind of hang up. :dunno: :bash:
-
Or charging a fee to buy tickets for other people.
-
There was a thread here earlier this summer regarding an outfit coming in, buying a BUNCH to be sold to out of stater's later.
There it is - page 19 of general discussion.

I would also like to know how raffle tickets, for hunts, differ by law than special permits. Either way you are spending money on a gamble to get a tag, how are permits not considered gambling but raffle tickets are and cant be sold online?
-
I think its an odds thing. If EVERYONE has the same exact chance, then it is not considered gambling, or something like that. I know it sounds stupid, but when offereing a contest at one time for the family business, we had to make modifications so that it wasn't gambling. :dunno:
-
I think it is different than putting in for special permits because you can invest an unlimited amount in the raffle. I guess they see that it falls under what could be more closely considered gambling. There are people every year that spend $10,000 and get nothing for it. Personally, I think that their restrictions keep the honest guys from buying the tickets. If someone is such a gambling addict that they risk blowing all their money on a chance to get a hunt, then they'll find their way down to a store to buy the tickets. The guy who wants to spend 30 dollars on a couple tickets is affected the most. :twocents:
I was hoping that they would sell significantly less this year because of the new regulations to increase my odds....we'll see...

I'm pretty sure they did. The numbers are in this link.
http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/permits/raffles/
-
Yeah, but they never updated it after the 18th. I know that our entire group waited until the last day and between 6 of us, we dropped over $1500 on tickets. Most of them were for deer, elk and moose. I am sure that many others did the same thing and procrastinated until the deadline.

How in the world does it keep the "honest" guys from buying tickets. Because they have to go to a dealer to buy them? Do only dishonest guys go to dealers to buy tickets? Makes no sense.
And your odds are better this year but I think the best odds were in some of the multi species raffles :twocents:
-

I saw the numbers changing right up 'till the last day, but didn't see this...
Number of raffle tickets purchased as of:
July 18, 2011 9:00 pm
Is it the numbers or just the date that didn't get updated. We waited untill last day also
-
What I meant was that having to go down to the store to buy the tickets may end up keeping the regular guys who might spend a little bit of money from buying the tickets. I think several guys have bought them online in years past cause it was convenient. Now more guys will forget or just never make it to the store...hence the significant drop in ticket sales (unless Cem is correct and everybody runs to the store at the last second). My point is that I doubt having to go down to the store will keep any of the "problem gamblers" that the new regulations are targeting from spending all their money anyway.
By "honest", I simply meant the people that dont have a gambling problem. I shouldnt have used the word honest or dishonest, but then again I didnt realize that there were people out there that were so bored they would like to start a technical argument over this issue for the sake of typing.
-
Updates? Anyone work for Fish and Game? =)
-
I called to talk to them about it but was put on hold for over 5 minutes. Can't wait that long at work, maby someone out there has time to call and ask them about it?
-
Here's how it goes:
You call
You ask "Raffle Tags been drawn yet?"
WDFW says "No" (they will say this up to the point that the results post online).
or
You call
You ask "Raffle Tags been drawn yet?"
WDFW says "Hold Please".
WDFW goes to answer the other 2,349 calls coming in asking "Raffle Tags been drawn yet?"
You fall asleep or starve to death
Anyone ever had anything different happen? :dunno:
-
That's true, I was mostly calling to see if there was any truth to the controversy about the raffle tickets being sold to the out of state magazine subscribers.
-
I called and the lady confirmed that there was no problems or illegal activity. She said they are understaffed this year when compared to last year and the results are taking a bit longer to process. I called a few weeks ago and they said it would be " a week...week and a half". I called today and they said..." They should be up very soon...probably week..week and half." lol
The point is that the people answering the phones dont know what they're talking about. They could post later this afternoon. I think they are intentionally vague on exact dates so they dont have to commit and cause they're tired of us bugging them. I'd be surprised if they werent posted by Monday or Tuesday of next week.
-
I would guess that if they dont post tomorrow, then we probably wont see them until next Friday.
-
More :bs:
Understaffed??? They weren't aware of the upcoming draw?
Poor management ALL the way around!
-
I'm ok with waiting a few more weeks..........just as long as they draw my number! :chuckle:
-
:yeah: It just sucks to drag out the suspense if we are going to be let down!!! Oh well...I bought the tickets for the suspense anyway.
-
They would love to wait until after 09/01/2011!!$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
-
How could they wait until after September 1st? The raffle permit seasons begin on September 1st? :dunno:
-
How could they wait until after September 1st? The raffle permit seasons begin on September 1st? :dunno:
Yeah, give them some credit, they are giving a whole two weeks for the winner to prepare.

I dont care if they wait until after September 1st as long as they draw my number. With a 3 month season, I think I would still be able to put any one of those permits to good use!
-
I thought it was a 4 month season? (Sept 1 to Dec 31)
-
I thought it was a 4 month season? (Sept 1 to Dec 31)
You are correct, but I was referring to the comment that they would wait until September to draw. If they waited until sometime in September then it essentially becomes a 3 month season by the time they notify the winners and send out the permits, tags, etc.
-
I see. Yes, three months would be more than enough time to hunt. But of course if it's an elk hunt you'd really want to spend some time hunting in September while they're rutting. Those results better be out this week. I only bought blacktail tickets but if I were to be drawn I would want to be out there hunting on September 1st.
-
If I were them, everytime somebody called me and asked me when it was going to be done, I'd make you all wait a another day.
-

:chuckle:
-
I'm thinking there's a good chance the results will be posted tomorrow. If not, then sometime this week for sure. But I definitely won't be calling to find out. I never understood why people do that. Like a phone call is going to make them do it any quicker.
-
Bobcat,
Due to a clerical error, you won't be notified that you won the raffle until 12/30/2011.
-
The phone calls to the winners must have already been made, I'd bet all we are waiting for is to find out how big of losers we are.
-
I call hopin they'll tell me a definative day the results will be posted so that I can stop checking until them. Of course that never happens. I guess I'm a kid at Christmas...although back then i did have a better than 1% chance of actually getting a present.
-
Finally a straight story from the WDFW. I called and talked to a guy this time. He said they hired a new vendor to do the computer generated results. Apparently the drawing was supposed to be last week, but they had "technical difficulties". The guy said they are scrambling and are saying they'll have results mid week at the latest. He said they might be posted as early as today, but I think the vendor is fired after this.
-
cjensen- do you have a lot of money invested in this?
-
cjensen- do you have a lot of money invested in this?
Haha, he must. Actually I think he said he and his friends had a fair amount wrapped up in the raffles. Kinda makes a guy wonder though because in order for that to happen he and his buddies (or at least one of them) had to go to a licensed dealer to buy them so I'm not sure how "honest" they could possibly be (see earlier posts). :chuckle:
For the record the "new regulations" are not really new. The law was in place in years passed but the WDFW was conducting these raffles contrary to Washington law and when it was brought to their attention they changed the way raffle tickets could be purchased in order to be in line with the law. I don't think it really has much if anything to do with chronic gambling. I think it has more to do with "fairness" in the raffle process. :twocents:
Either way, I don't see how hard it could be to go to the dealer and buy a ticket if you want one.... or 10,000 and I really don't care either way. Your odds are better this way and the real loser is the state because the raffles will end up generating less money for them to mis-manage.
-
Yellowdog - Thank you very much for clearing up the record on the history of state gambling laws as it relates to the WDFW raffle! Fascinating!!!!
Bobcat - I have quite a bit invested into it, but not enough to give me that good of odds. Mostly though...I guess I'm impatient and the suspense is killing me. See...I've already got my money's worth in suspense...
-
No news yet??? Nobody has a friend or a friends-uncles-cousins-dad who received a call from the WDFW?
I can see it already, they will use this as an excuse to increase the fees again (on top of the increase on Sept 1). They need more people to pull off this gradeschool raffle :bash: :bash: :bash:

I think there is more to this whole illegal activity angle than they are willing to admit to. :twocents:

Sarcasm!
Resident
Moose tag 08/31/11= $122.
Same........O9/01/11=$300
they would also probably prefer that residents do NOT win these draw$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!

I came out empty this year. Knew it was going to be the case because I drew last year. Yay for 1 point!

Is it posted???

I must say, I am completely confused now :chuckle:. Okay I just read the WDFW website on raffles. So the raffle is where people can buy points, where as the S/P you get more points from years applied? I didn't even know there was a raffle until today lol, sorry for my stupidity.
-
If anything is illegal on this it will be if they wait till Sept 1st to announce winners when the tag prices go up. I wouldn't put it past them. Changing the rules in the middle of the game.

I thought if you win the raffle your tag is free.
-
Yes sir it is free!
-
DOH!, I'm too cheap to pay attention.
-
Just got off the phone drawing took place this morning and phone calls and letters going out this evening and tomorrow :yeah: Should be on computer tomorrow
-
Well no call for me tonight, so hopefully Rainier School and all other government funded program except Fish & Wildlife enjoys the money that I donated to the State! :chuckle:
What do you think my accountant would say if I tried to convince him its a write off?
-
I used to dump about $3,500.00 each year between moose and goat raffle. Never got drawn. Then I realized the stupidity of my ways - Canada goat hunts are only $7,500.00 and they throw in wolf, whitetail, mule deer and blackbear! So I thought I'd quit throwing my money away and book a trip up north. Thinking I was so dang smart I went up goat hunting with Sawtooth last year. Got a lung infection and almost died at 7,000', guide saved my life and I never got to take a shot. Good story to tell on my Christmas letter but still out my money and no goat.
Then out of the blue the outfitter calls me up and says he had a cancellation and would I like to go try again? I said, "I'd love to but I spend my next five years of hunting budget on a dall/caribou hunt in NWT." He says, "I don't think you understand my offer. IT'S FREE!!! All you have to do is buy the tags." WaaaaaHoooo! dance a jig WaaaHooo!!! :o :chuckle:  :yike: "I'll see you in November!"
I'll be spending my raffle money with those guys for the rest of my life. It's a guaranteed tag. And it seems they appreciate it much more than the WDFW.
-
RavSav ,that sounds like a great plan ! Maybe I missed it in this thread but Have they had the drawing yet or not ?
-
Cool Story Rav! What does it cost to hunt the goat, deer, wolf etc... including the tags? I assume the outfitter fee is $7,500? Either way, that does sound better than spending thousands for a mediocre chance to win a WA hunt. I think the way to do the lottery is to just spend $50 or so and buy a few tickets just to give your self a small chance and something to think about between permit draws and hunting season.

I think the word was that it happened yesterday, but who knows until someone gets a call from WDFW.
cjensen - I can not find my receipt from last year but if I remember correctly it was somewhere around $1,400.00 for license and tags. I paid $5,500.00 plus tags and would have paid an additional $2,000.00 had I taken a billy. Saw some nice whitetail and mulies but didn't shoot one as I was hoping for goat first. Saw at least two dozen nice billies through the spotting scope before I had to head for the medic.
-
Heard a rumor that raffle tags came in the mail today. Sucks, my mailbox was empty. Guess my luck ran out.
-
Heard a rumor that raffle tags came in the mail today
Where did the rumor come from? I understood they would phone the winners first not mail. No post either. Makes you wonder how fair and above board the process really is! They should use the old day method of a public draw. Let anyone one attend and do it in the open. I would bet a smart computer geek could up someones chances if he had a mind to. Wonder what WDFW pays the private company to have the draw and awarding of the prize?
-
I got a text from a friend that said his buddy had won the 3 deer raffle, must have been notified by email or phone.
-
Thats a class act right there Rad. Very cool. Better luck this year.
-
Very classy group that you hunted with Rad. I have a buddy who guides sheep/Moose in Alberta who recommended Sawtooth for Goats.
-
The guy at WDFW did say that they sent out notifications and made phone calls on Tuesday. I would assume that the notifications could still show up in mail today or the next, but the winners should already know they're winners. Hopefully somebody on this website wins so we can follow their story...
-
I would rather they post the results then make the phone calls that way i wouldnt have to hear things third hand that im probably a loser. So if they made the phone calls why wouldnt they just post the results?
-
:dunno: I'm still waiting for my phone call............

Has anyone gotten a call yet? With the number of members on here, I would have figured that at least one person would have drawn one of the raffle tickets. Knowing WDFW, they probably havent even conducted the drawing yet and they are telling people they have, just so people will stop calling everyday!

No call, no mail, no news... Consistent response from WDFW.

Blacktail deer, next year westside elk.
-
CONGRATS!
-
Right on GRK, Congrats, but the westside elk is mine next year.
-
Well, no phone call or mail from WDFW the last two days. Sad. Another donation to the state coffers. On a positive note, a friend who told me he thought I had too many hunts this year got the letter yesterday for the three deer raffle. He apologized for thinking that I had too much hunting as he's now got a lot to accomplish.

Congrats to your friend!!! I'm sure he will let you help pack some of these deer out.
-
At least the out of state guys didn't get the east side elk tag.
-
Results are posted.....closest I got was number 10 on South Central Washington. :bash:
-
Number 10 that's pretty close! I was like 480 lol and in the 1000 range on the others I out in for.
-
I can beat it...#6 for the same draw. Might as well have been #600 the way I see it-just interesting data. At least I drew a primo quality tag for next month in the Blues!
-
I agree....2nd place is just about as far away as 1467th place. Just close enough for me to throw some more money at it next year. I see that there were several guys that spent more than 10k. One of the winners spent about 20k. There had to be several guys that spent thousands and drew nothing...
