Title: Bear Rugs. . . . (MNTaxidermy)
Post by: Michelle_Nelson on August 06, 2011, 10:47:56 AM: This Black Bear measured out at 6'5" and had a 19 1/2" skull. Very Nice thick coat Spring Bear.

nose looks black in the photos. It is not. It is actually a dark brown. The pictures for some reason are making it look much darker than it really is.

Post by: Michelle_Nelson on August 06, 2011, 11:04:51 AM: This Bear Measured out at 6'9". It was shot in the Spring and had a really nice thick coat. The Pictures really show the chocolate in the face. Very little blond in the muzzle. The Bear is sitting on a Queen size bed sheet.

Post by: Michelle_Nelson on August 06, 2011, 11:17:58 AM: This is a really neat looking Color Phase that was killed around the end of August I believe. It measured out at 6'3". I believe the hunter said this Bear had a blockage in it's intestine and was real skinny when they shot it.

No, people PM or E-mail me and want to see Rug work that I've done it's easier to send them 1 link than it is to look up 20.

I've got 1 Rug ready to do the finnish work on, 2 Rugs ready to do the rugging on, 1 to dye the flanks on, 2 to stretch, and I think 7 or 8 to put heads in, and not sure how many more I have at the tannery still. Atleast another 10 that I can think of off the top of my head but proably more.

So I should have some more rugs to post pictures of before the end of the month. :)

Beautiful job on your work. :tup: Stupid question here ( :sry: ) .. I've only seen bear rugs on walls. Would putting one on a carpeted floor (ie, with pad underneath) be a :bdid: if its going to occasionally be walked on? :dunno:

Bean Counter. You can put the rug on the floor if you want. I'd suggest putting it on top of an area rug though. Just keep in mind the more trafic on it the more damage that is going to be done to the hair. You can't throw a Bear rug in the washing machine. :chuckle:

Another thing is people possibly tripping over the head and the damage that could cause.

The Bear died in a wallow and was caked in mud and filth. So much so that we couln't tell it's real color until it came back from the tannery and it was all clean.

Post by: Michelle_Nelson on February 22, 2013, 02:48:14 PM: This is the second Bear Rug I've done for this guy. It's a 5'6" Cinnamon Color Phased Black Bear (2010). Has a real nice thick coat. This Rug has 2 layers of Coco Brown Felt. The customer asked me to shorten the felt on the Bear. I didn't get quite as many pic's as I wanted and even a couple of the ones I got were not very good because the sun started coming out a few minutes after I started taking them.

I've had this one done for over a month but havn't had time to get any pictures posted up. I've got quite a few more pictures of Mounts/Rugs to post I just havn't had time. I had a few minutes today so decided to post these up.

Never been asked to do a closed mouth before on a Black Bear Rug. I couldn't find a closed mouth rug shell in any of the catologs that I liked, so I made the rug shell for this rug. I think it turned out pretty nice!
