Title: Hunt Wa, Meet "Droopy"
Post by: h20hunter on August 07, 2011, 10:01:57 AM: Check out Droopy. I'm not posting noth'n 'bout this deer. Only showing you the vid. D-Rock has been after this deer for 3 years. I'm posting the vid for him and I'll be letting him tell whatever details he wants. My lips are sealed tight. Video is on a handheld from 200 yards away.

D-Rock on here, his buddy shot it.

I would bet he is. Most blacktails take longer then that to get that big.

Post by: D-Rock425 on August 08, 2011, 07:49:59 AM: I first saw this deer during the 09 bear season and have now seen him about a dozen more times since then. I named him droopy the first time I saw him. He was a 3x4 then and in the last 2 years he has put on mass and got much taller.

We may or may not have come across one (wild innovations) cleverly hidden. I may or may not have taken off my shirt to change into a dry one while taking a few minutes to flex and pose provocatively. Also, I may or may not have hidden behind some brush and jumped out like a shirtless albino sasquatch. Just saying, it may or may not have happened yesterday on the hill around 5:30 pm ish.

Now thats funny, I do the same things when I find the cameras, even better when you get some big branches and hold them up to your head and walk around like a stud buck ;)

He had this strange glint in his eye. I can remember not knowing if the glare from my bared chest was bothering him or if was something else. I was ready to get to hunting but he seemed to be a bit winded from the hike and wanted to rest a bit more. Strange hunt to say the least.

Photos don't really show it that well, but it is by FAR the thickest and generally largest blacktail antler I have ever seen. Found it shed hunting this year.

A couple of years ago, I shot a buck and a huge chunk of his left ear was gone......about half the width and about half the length of the top of the ear. Nice 4x5 Muley though.

1) A much higher fitness level that I would have without him: If I hadn't trucked up that hill 3000 times I'd be much fatter than I am now.

2) A bear: I would not have shot my bear this year had I not been up looking for Droopy.

3) Someone else with approximately 3 game cameras: Trying to catch Droopy on camera has resulted in 1 D-Bag stealing 3 of my cameras or 3 DBags stealing 1 of my camera's each.

4) An antler shed: Either there are 4 points everywhere up there, or I have Droopy's once worn antler. This is much more than D-Rock has (he only has a crappy movie).

Not a single one. But I checked it October 25th so all the new pics are fairly late in the year. I did get probably at least 10 different bucks though. The weird part was I only got pics of one doe.

I did get a bunch of bear pics in October on my camera that is lower down. And a few on this one. So there are a few that made it for sure. I bet there are still a lot. Hopefully with so many killed the fawns will do good this spring.
