I have a 338 browning and I love the gun but I was wondering who else shoots this round and what do you shoot out of it (bullets, weight). I only ask because even though the gun still hits what I point it at I believ it should be able to hold the same groups as my other guns (243, 308, 30-06, 300). I have spent lots of money and found the best shooting round for the other guns and thought this might be a cheaper way to narrow the field down.

i dont have a .338 so i cant help there, i was just wondering though what ammo you use for your 06 and what model is the gun?

210 partition, 2950 gps. 1/2 Mia out to 500 tds.
Working up a new load with th 225 accubond.
-
225 accubond it a good one for my gun. Just have to see what your gun likes.

I've had great luck with all the noslers bt and accubonds. My pet load is the 225gr accubond with a healthy load of imr4350. I can get sub Moa groups all day tell I'm sore.

210 grain Nosler Partition 73 grains IMR4831 over all load length 3.330

210 Partition. Works great for my brother in-law.

mine loves 210 sciroccos fuled by 73 gr. rl 19  or 230 gr failsafes doesnt like accubonds for some reason :dunno:

I shoot 225g accubonds in my 338wm. Also like the 210g partitions.
-
225 hornadys with 65 or 67 grains (cant remember im not home) of H-4831 shoot six shot groups you can cover with a quarter.
-
I notice alot of you are shooting either 210 or 225 grain bullets. Right now I am shooting 180 grain accubonds. Do you think the lighter bullet is making the bullets drift more.
-
With the lower b.c on the 180's they will be affected more. I like the b.c and knock down I get from the 225's. The lighter bullets don't do as good in my bigger guns. I shoot a 200g accubonds in my 340wby mag and anything lighter gets crazy.
-
A good compromise if you want to go light is the 200gr Speer Hot Core. They're a pretty tough bullet. I've had the best accuracy with the 250gr Hornady SP. I'll give up a little in group size to have a tougher bullet like the Accubond or Partition though. I've had really good luck with the Barnes 225gr TTSX as well.
That said, I've never had 338 Win Mag, all of these bullets were shot from other 338s ranging from the 338 Federal to the 338 RUM.

I've had luck with the lighter bullets but the energy and .550 bc. You really don't gain any thing with the light bullet but less recoil.
