Title: is goodman unit any good for bowhunting elk?
Post by: tommyhydro on August 14, 2011, 08:10:14 AM
going to be moving back to the great WA next year, and i haven't been able to elk hunt for the past 8 years.....never bowhunted back there either(picked it up in jersey thanks to ridiculous gun laws). my family has some property right on the HOH river that i was going to use as a base camp, but was wondering how that area is for bowhunting elk, deer, bear? not asking for honey holes, just some opinions on this area, or if i should concentrate my efforts elsewhere.

Hoh river!  Let me just say the Hoh is a honey hole for elk!  That is if you are willing to scout hard and hunt hard.  Depending on where your property is you are close to both the goodman and clearwater.  Both good elk units.  Some access issues in the goodman because of Rayonier leasing.  But, over all there is several hundred thousand acres that is accessable.  Again it it tough country and has sent many of hunter whining back to their old hunting grounds.
