Title: Bear hunting trip turned into a scouting trip.
Post by: Kain on August 14, 2011, 04:29:18 PM: Went out for opening weekend of bear season and every where I wanted to go I kept bumping into elk. Nice problem to have. No luck finding any bears or sign but took some video of some of the elk I found. Cows were real vocal. Only saw a few calves but the brush was so thick they could have been right in front of me.

We could tell they had been there within a week but once season starts they disappear. A local told me that the WDFW does a population survey with helicopters right before season starts. I dont know if I believe that but those elk sure did leave the area. Hopefully we can find them this year. I tried real hard not to spook any of them.
