Who killed the bear at C-Post? My dad and I took a short walk up there last night and cam across what was left of the gut pile. Looked like it had been killed during the first week of the season by how dried out the remains were. Just curious if anyone had any info on that bear...
-
A lot of the local guys hunt that area. I've seen bear there before but never hunted there.
-
Yeah I've hunted the area a lot. If its the bear I think it is, it's a dandy so I was just curious if anyone knew who shot it.
-
Where/what is C-Post?
-
C-post road off of hwy 530 between arlington and darrington
-
Would you guys just shut up? Give it a rest. Tired of hearing about...Arlington, Darrington, Sultan, Granite Falls, Monroe, Oso and now C-Post etc... Good grief! Let me give you bear hunters a clue...get out and start hiking/biking, whatever... C-Post is NO secret, but do you guys have to constantly talk about these local places?
-
Calm down there turbo...C-Post Road is like you said, no secret. I've spent a lot of time up there hiking, shooting and fishing and never saw a bear up there, so good job for someone! I saw a cougar up that way once while steelhead fishing; it scared the crap out of me.

Isn't the internet great for sharing? :chuckle:

Yeah, this site great for people telling other people names of roads so when i show up to my spot a 4 in the morning and i cant find a spot to park. Thats b.s. There needs to be a moderater on here bleeping out names of roads and places.

:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
This is awesome.....
-
hahahahahah yeah I here ya man ... and I am not good neither at sharing but there is a reason why I kill alot of sheet and thats by not telling the freaken world about it ... I have lost so many good spots because I showed friends and the part that really kills me is they lived here there whole freakin life and nothen can hide from this east coaster :chuckle: :chuckle:  I do not mind given out a little info .. but it sure in the heck is not going to be my honey holes ... if you love hunting you will hunt hard to succeed ...plain and simple
-

C-Post Road is practically a highway into the foothills. Besides, the road sign tends to be missing these days. Getting butthurt about it is kinda dumb, its not like its some secret spot only one person knew about. The west slope of the cascades has a ton of bears...find the berries and wow, there they are! Hell, are you gonna be mad that I tell everyone that you can catch steelhead in the Skykomish and Reiter Ponds is a good place to find them, or that there are alot of deer in the Methow? If you think C-Post Road is some secret honey hole of solitude, well I'm sorry, but there's alot of better places to find bears. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but hey, that's just reality. My $0.02

You're right C-Post is no secret! But it's also no coincidence a dozen extra wanna-bee meathead road hunters are all over an area after hearing about it of the internet!! I hear ya, sick of it too! it's ruined many of my areas :bash:
-
Isn't that the point of this site? Throw out some info, help a guy out? When it comes to places that everyone knows it is rediculous to get mad when people talk about it.

From my first post, I have been told that that is not what this site is about. I won't be heading over to c=post anytime soon either. I remeber going up that road years ago and knowone ever went up there. Know plenty of people go up there and dump crap. Go ahead up there all on this site. I won't be over there any more :'( To bad cuz I kinda liked it over there.
-
Soooo.....see you guys up at C-post this weekend then. :chuckle:
-
headed to c-post tomorow night for a week of hunting :chuckle:

maybe... I have got some great places to hunt due to the internet and fourums like this ;)
-
Hey guys, Eastsider here interested in west side info. I hear there are a ton of bears on the west side of the Cascades, can you hook a brother up? I've never hunted north of King County, but I hear there are good spots in the Arlington, Darrington, Sultan, Granite Falls, Monroe, and Oso areas. I don't have time to scout, but I really need to kill a bear, will trade Blue Mountains elk, Methow deer and Skykomish steelhead info for a roadside honeyhole (I have medical issues so can't get far off the road). :)
-
Yea, I just read about this place called C-Post. I'm going to head up there this weekend, maybe run into Bear from the site. We can meet up and have a site picnic. Anyone else want to go? :hello:
-
:bash: :bash: What the heck???? I went out C-post tonight and I didn't see a bear, but I did see a lot of people. You guys might want to come back towards Arlington a bit. Go up Brooks Creek. You're in luck they are logging out there. So guesse what??? You can drive it, the gate is open!!! Awesome hunting out there. Rumor has it someone took a shot at bigfoot, but they only spent three hours looking for him.
By the way I filled both of my tags already. Anyone wanna know where I go? Pm me and I'll let you know, I might even take you out if I'm not busy.

What first post are you talking about? I can barely understand what you are trying to say. So let me get this straight, talking about hunting Arlington, Darrington, Sultan, Granite Falls, Monroe, Oso, lets just call it Snohomish county is now off limits because its a "secret"? Fair enough I would like to keep the following spots secret as well, Rufus Woods, Reiter ponds, the cowlitz river, bouy 10, Colockum elk, blue mountain elk, Colville (turkey and whitetail), Swakane, Snake river, Clearwater river, brewster pool kings, Lake Roosevelt walleye, Puget Sound Salmon, Winthrop, all inland empire paper land, Weyerhauser land, all coastal steelhead fishing, and Republic/Curlew whitetails.
-
I am not saying it is secret. But i guaranty that a lot more people are gonna show up in places like this cause of this site and I won't be one of them any more. I just started on this site and I got told that this site is not about giving away a hunting spot (maybe I was misinformed). I know that this area (happens to be the area I live in) is hunted a lot and is no secret. I am just trying to say that I don't like to find five other trucks parked where I have hunted with just my close buddies for years. Not trying to get on anyones bad side :sry: But every year I find more and more people were I hunt and fish were there has just been me and a couple others
-
Yeah... people are driving as far south as Rainier because they heard of a good spot for sturgeon up this way cause they heard it from websites, paper and radio. i think everybody on here who is an avid hunter like myself, has there own honey holes to hunt and doesnt want it to turn into disneyland( c-post). There was two bears taking out of my honey hole this year by guys who never even shot a bear before, but because people cant keep quiet, i gotta find a new spot cause there taking everyone they know there.
-
And that is exactly what I am getting at. If you find a new hunting spot, that is great, but to many come storming to where I do, and I half to go find somewhere else. :bash:
-

Heck yeah! I find many of my hunting spots due to nimble fingered members
Thanks DBzona ;)

Hearing about a good spot and getting out there and making a kill are two different things. This isn't a new phenomenon. Hunting magazines and newspapers have been around for years. I remember years ago Fishing and Hunting news wrote a 3 page article with maps to the exact spot we hunt up in Republic. For that year every yahoo alive was up there. Two years later it was back to normal. Sure it was a pain for those couple years and I am sure a handfull of deer were shot because of the article but most guys got skunked because they didn't put in the work. I scour the internet all the looking for info that will put me into more animals. Does this make me a bad hunter because I found an area on the internet? All it does is save me time and money.
-
Maybe I was misinformed that this site is not about sharing the latest hunting spot, I don't know. I do know this though, I hate finding more and more people in my hunting spots. It gives me a headache. Maybe I should stop banging my head on this wall :bash: That might take a little bit of it away :chuckle:
-
Don't get me wrong, you won't get directions to my treestand or to a honey hole that's isn't common knowledge. When hunting and fishing areas are already well known they are going to show up on the Internet and print sooner or later.
-
North Cascades is the best for elk. If I only had 1 day to hunt, that would be the place to go...and if you had a weekend, you would be guaranteed to kill one. If you see deer instead, just climb another 400 feet in altitude and you'll be rolling in them.
-
Just because a spot isn't a secret, doesn't mean it can take an unlimited amount of hunting pressure. I'm surprised at how many guys will throw their own hunting or fishing spots to the wolves online.
I've seen fishing holes beat to hell under the excuse that "it's not a secret." Before you know it, a place that comfortably fishes 4 or 5 guys ends up with 20 rods on it.

That's it! And why make it worse! And seen areas eventually shut down for good because of it.
Helping a fellow hunter is one thing! But ruining an area out of complete stupidity is another.
If I hear of a new potential honey hole on the internet, newspaper, magizine etc. ( I KNOW TO AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE CAUSE CHANCES ARE IT'S GOING TO BE A CLUSTER-*censored*

Gosh, you guys should all join clubs where you have a leased hunting area, and not hunt on public land anymore, or land that is open to the public.
See, the point of "public" land is that is is open to everyone. Anybody can come across the same "spot" on public land the same way you did, or by being told about it by someone else, or by using the internet. That is life. The real world is kinda like that...the only cure is to go to private land where you have exclusive access...
Personally, having lived in Texas before, where public access land is very hard to come by, I prefer the way it is here...

Welcome to reality... You know the town of Covington? Yeah, where all the houses are? I used to hunt Blacktail back there. BEFORE they built houses there.
