It's either the Hunters or the Bears! Which is it? Where are all the Bear pictures from this mornings hunt? :chuckle:
-
went out this morning, so atleast im trying :chuckle: i just dont know what im doing with this bear hunting deal, been going out every weekend since opening never seen a bear but i have seen sign(turds) so i blame half me and half bears!
-
Been out once, its pretty slow right now in all the areas I hunt, come september I will be hitting it hard.
-
Sorry I've let you down. :'(
-
sorry would of went out and blasted one, but for us east sider's its either a 6 hour drive or wait.. with the gas budget the way it is I have to wait :bash:
-

humpy fishing was fun this morning I might do some bear hunting in the morning. I've seen 4 bears so far this season. First one I blasted then the second I let Robcat-Bobcat shoot. Last Monday I got on a big one and never had a shot then past on a smaller bear Tuesday night.

Was definitely me slacking this weekend. Just too hot.
-
Trying to get out, just the weather keeps driving me back in----nearly 80 and not a cloud in the sky. Not a good hand when you go 5-7 miles in.
-
Saw a dead one a couple hrs ago at the gas station. It was about a 250-270 lber black with a white v on its neck.I asked him if he's gonna do a mount & he says nope the ol'lady wont give me any funds.
-
I agree it was real hot today. I hate when it real hot. Makes me sluggish and all I want to do is find a nice shady spot and take a nap. :chuckle:
D-Rock425 (http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=3797) you seem to be the man to tag along with when it comes to killing Bears. What time we leaving in the morning? :chuckle:
-
I plan to be at the gate about 5am. I think I'm heading out solo tomorrow hopefully I can get it done.
-
come Sept 1st I will be on it ....got to let my youngest blast one ...plus i am waiting on my video camera to come back from being fixed ....got to show ya that shoulder shot :chuckle: :chuckle: :tung:
-
Been after a collared for 2 weeks. He's pretty big but can't get close enough for a decent shot. Dropped down into the canyon about 600 yds this morn and found where somebody got one in the bottom where he had been hanging out. Just my luck!
-
I've hunted 15 days so far this month and have seen 4 bears.
-
Not starting until after Labor Day weekend!!! :hunter:
-
80+ degree weather is two hot on the Mt. Im going to wait till at least the middle of September before I really get going.
-
I have to wait tell sept 1st but I am counting hours. If all goes right Ill have some nice pics of a bear on the ground by dark on the first :IBCOOL:
-
I went out tonight but nothing and it was hot...D-Rock I could use your help these bear have me stumped!
-
Not slacking here. Just have no open season. I could've shot a couple since the rest of the state's been open, but no season here means no bears shot by me.
-
Sorry,it was me slacking too ... filleted,de-boned,brined and smoked about 12 salmon today plus some tuna ...and vacuum packed +cleaned up everything .....just too hot for going on mountain hunt . :sry:
-
I'll admit I have been slacking. Last weekend was my only outing to date and I was only able to put in a day and a half. Did spot 4 bears though and had one very clumsy blown stalk that I will have to take complete responsibility for.
-
Saw a fatty bear this evening right before dark but unfortunetly I dont have a 275 yard pin on my bow. :chuckle:
-
I'm taking a solo hike in the morning. I'll take camera and pistola. Not 'really' hunting to kill. Just a little scouting for my boys.

I tend to not hunt bear in August. I hate fighting heat and bees. Course it was only 97 here yesterday so.........
-
i messed up a shot at a bruiser a couple days ago. maybe he was 30 yards max.. caught me off guard as i was walking. if i had just turned and shot offhand immediately i might have put him down, but i hesitated to check him out plus my heart was in throat as he was staring right at me and sniffing with his lips curled.. by the time i gathered myself the only shot i had was either right in the face or shoot through a bush and hope i guessed right..
I chose to wait for the shot especially because i was offhand with no where to rest due to me being slightly up hill from him.. he stared at me for another minute sniffed again and made his way into the dark timber never presenting a shot...
Really intense!!!! and man i was bummed after and still am but i know deep down i did the responsible thing as much as it sucks!!!
-
I am a slacker !!
going to give it a shot this evening, tommorrow morning, see whats what (actually gotta go pick up my chair from down in my "hole")
might need to look somewhere else, as not much action on my spring trail......

Good choice, plus you never know if it was a sow with cubs, but perhaps you were certain it was a male...

Nice job! I wish there were more stories like that on here. Well done!

Thanks fellas, although i felt like it was for sure a boar I'm not experienced enough to say 100 % it could have been a sow, that and i just wont take a shot that im not certain is going to deliver pretty mucn an instant guaranteed kill. i know there are never guarantees but there are high percentile situations.. Because of this I've missed out on some monster bears of the last 2 years and a huge 4x4 2 years ago but at the end of the day i know i made the right decision. Now i just need to get my first bear !!!! :bash: :bash:
-
i did go out saturday and took ashot at a rather large one just no scope and over fifty yards away.. missed by about an inch. hit the dirt behind him and close enough to watch the hair on his chest part as it flew under him.. next time im bringin a rifle and not just the shotgun.. and i wouldnt pass up hunting anything for humpy fishing.. i kick those things out of my way when im on the river lookin for silvers or steelhead.. but thats hunting and im fairly satisfied considering it was my second bear hunt ever.. i always see sows and cubs on my scouting.. it was my first bore and i had to try.. next time yogi.. next time..

We have seen 10 bear, on 7 of them there was no shooting opportunity but we should have killed 3 of those bear, for various reasons not a shot has been fired yet, I guess that's why they call it hunting and not getting. :chuckle:

Agree'd.. I tend not to hunt them until the end of August and preferably later if I'm going after them specifically. Yesterday I went up to scout a place I hadn't been to in a few years, Young flies.. Bunch'a skeeder's! 85+ degrees. Found all the sign a bear hunter would want to. I called a little here and there. Couldn't put a bruin to eyeballs.

....PathfinderJR and I are still waiting for September 1st... :(

As every day passes I'm regreting not taking the big one I had a good chance for last year. A real trophy. I'm not really itching to get one this year. After that big one.. I'll be quite selective. My boys are interested in harvesting though.
