What is the best and most accurate load you have found. Also where is the best place to buy supplys around in the north sound?
-
My bighorn has a 2in group at 100yds using 290gr barnes spitfire over 2 50gr pyrodex pellets.
-
The only thing i have tried so far as recommended by a gentlemen at wholesale sports is Two triple 7 pellets (not regular pyrodex pellets) and a hornady 250grn sst and musket cap. works great really accurate and clean the first time out with this load i was doing 2in groups at a fifty yards and about 4in at a hundred with the factory open sites never a single missfire . 8)

I used the 777 pellets for years with the powerbelts. I have recently changed to the barns tmz with 100 grains of 3f. I was shooting way better groups and can shoot tripple the amout shots than what I could with the 777 50/50 pellets. No more pellets for me. Those are designed for the 209 ignition.

I won't hunt with anything other than a Barnes TMZ. I really like the accuracy with T7 ffg and a Magnum #11.
-
My favorite load for deer out of my bighorn is 120 grains 777 ffg loose powder with 250 grain spitfire tmz and a musket cap. Shoots a 6" group at 200 yards with open sights.

Past 2 years ive been successful elk huntin with 100 g ffg with 348 powerbelts..just recently bought the barnes 290 tez and can't wait to try em out..hoping for a better group with the barnes

I get good performance from Powerbelt (348 grains) and 100 grains of Triple-7. Great rifle, that Knight Bighorn!

Surely can not suggest a supply place around the north sound - that out of my area since I am over here by WSU.
But a load I have a couple of thoughts...
I shoot 100-110 grains of T7-3f with a #11mag cap. And for hunting I would suggest a .452-250 grain Lehigh Bloodline bullet.

Knight is now selling them as a Bloodline bullet. This is the 300 grain bullet I use for elk hunting.

Another excellent option is the .452-250 grain Speer Deep Curl - it is not as expensive as the Bloodline - but it is a bonded bullet and does have a device inserted in the lead to help control expansion.
Here is a picture of a bi-sected Deep Curl - you can see the little dot in the lead at the bottom of the HP.

I shot mine for the first time today with 250 gr TC shockwave sabots and 120 gr loose pyrodex. It was shooting great. Shot a three shot group at 100 yds that was about three inches with stock front sight and williams fp rear peep. Has anybody shot anything with the shockwaves? I've read a little bit about them not expanding well.
-
For my .50 cal, I shoot a 350 grain Maxi-hunters bullets with 90 grains of pyrodex select. 100% instant take down. And Im comfortable up to around 100 yrds.
-
I shoot the 290 grain barnes spitfire TMZ with 150 grains of pyrodex pellets with mine and it shoots great, I'm very confident up to 200 yards for elk. :IBCOOL:

I spent a few weekends up at the range with mine. I tried several different bullets, bullet weights, and powder weights. The guy I talked to at Knight was right. The best combination in my Bighorn was the 250gr Bloodline with 100grs of Triple 7. I got a three-shot group of just a hair over an inch. That doesn't mean your gun will shoot the same combination and achieve the same results. Also, that was with a scope on it, which isn't legal to hunt with here in Washington. Frankly, I'd be happy to shoot a 4" group with open sights.
