Anyone ever had any luck in GMU 139 early archery for deer?

I've never hunted 139 archery ..... although I spent many years hunting 139 with rifle and muzzleloader.  I had a 100% harvest success while hunting there.  Where in 139 are you hunting?  I did switch over to archery 3 years ago (this being my 4th season), although I hunt 178 now with archery.

Where abouts in 139 you headed?  Mulies or whitetail?

Well my biggest part of the problem has been the lack of $ for scouting being that I live on the west side. I am trying to find the best mass of public land over there and I am open to taking a white tail or Mule.

Tons of deer, tons of bucks because it's 99% private.   Biggest chunk of state BLM is on the Adams County border off of Rock Creek.   It will kill you driving by the private every day and seeing the hoards of bucks, but there are a few on the public land if you know where to look.   It's all mule deer in that country.  We took a 154" whitey and a 161" muley last year with archery tackle on private.

What made you decide on 139? Very open country and mostly private property.  Very challenging unit for archery, especially if you don't have any connections. Good luck man! I hope you get one  :)
