does anyone have cur dogs.If so what kind.
I was a long time cat hunter and then we had the
law change and I sold my dogs but I would like to
have a cur dog to take on my trapline and tree a few
for the kids to see and just here the dogs again.
-
I run a blackmouth cur out of White Sulfur Springs MT. Lee Zehtner has a few there. They're bred back to Wetherford's Ben and are pretty good tree dogs. My dog is spayed, but there are some good breeders around. Big Sky kennels in belgrade MT has some good lines.
-
I have Leopard curs, I don't think they would make AS good a trapline dog as some of the other curs, but they do aim to please and listen well. Great in the house or in the kennel and are very smart. The bonus is you'd have a dog that would also coon hunt for you.
-
I don't believe I have ever seen a cur or a leopard cur.
-
Are you talking about Mountain curs?
-
there are many cur mt blackmouth leapard and many more that are less common
I have even hunted with a feist mt cur cross that was a bear dog deluxe and had
to be retired because a bear bite her leg off.But she would still tree a coon should have bought
that dog.
some people would have called plotts a cur back when the plott family was still breeding them.
-
Actually Plotts were originally curs, some of the folks, like some of the Leopard folks, did not want them included in the hound group. Here are my three Leopard Curs:

I have always been a fan of cur's,walkers, and plotts. Our group use to have several of the cur's and all were great dogs and great fighters.

Nice looking catahoulas.
-
ahh I love Catahoula's. I have a 4 month old and she is an awesome dog! She's a red with ghost spots that are starting to darken. Great with the kids and neighbors rat dog. She was bought for a pet but man does she have a thing for bird right now. Quick learner too.
-
If anyone knows of a catahoula litter on the ground- I have a friend looking for one.

Is he looking for a Catahoula or a Leopard Cur?
-
i think he's wanting a catahoula- he wants to work cattle with it. I thought a BMC would be great for him...but I'm biased! :chuckle:
-
I thought I saw someone locally that had a couple of houla pups for sell, I'll do some checking. We all have our bias'! :chuckle:
