Just bout a 3 pack Sonic Dome by Primos. I can get some realistic sounds on occasion, but not consistently. Only one I can hold in my mouth consistently is the small one. The big ones make me gag :dunno:. Any tips?

You would make a terrible girlfriend. :chuckle:
Cut around the outside of the call to make it the same size as the small one

My dad had the same problem and we cut them down and he was just fine.

:yeah: Trim it to size and sit around with it in your mouth to get used to it in there :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I couldnt even read the whole title before it took a left turn into the gutter :chuckle: :chuckle:
I have a few tips but...ummm errr.....what was the question
would assume you might just need to practice...a lot ;)

Trim the diaphragm until it fits. Leave it in the the truck and practice every time you are in the truck. Practicing in the house is not prudent, if you have a spouse.(Everything I have stated is in reference to diaphragm elk calls)

Yes trim as needed and practice a lot! Note if this is your first time calling elk your a little behind the eight ball and needed to practice over 3 months ago. I keep mine in the car and practice about an hour a day. I drive 1 hour each way to olympia and back and practice about a half an hour each way. I do this mostly because I can get away with it with out driving my wife nuts and I still get the gag reflex. I get a lot of people looking at the crazy guy with a shirt and tie on making these crazy gestures with his hands and some times with a tube!!

Get rid of the Dome calls, just use latex. I have some of the domes. they actually are very uncomfortable.
I think with a softer call you will be fine.
Like others said, keep it in your rig and practice while driving. Especially at stop lights :chuckle:

Yes, just trim a little at a time. Once you get use to them they can be a great tool. I still prefer my open reads to a diaphragm for cow calls.

i tried the dome turkey hunting not very comfortble. use a normal one. i have some very good elk sounding call's for sale also. good luck i learned in my truck in the late 80's work's great. Rick ;)

I cannot read this without laughing.....now you all have brought in latex and learning in your truck :yike: sorry.... :chuckle: :chuckle:
on a serious note my kid uses those for turkey hunting and he likes them he practiced in the house when he got them .....not as bad a predator calls but still kinda loud....I avoid practicing calling in the house way prefer to practice in my truck..... I dont know much about those calls as I cant put latex in my mouth...

when learning to use a turk call i couldnt stand a diaphram. i got the smallest dome call i could get & just left it in my mouth, moved it around ect & was eventually able to get over the gag reflex & move to different diaphrams
