So can someone tell me what the deal is with baiting/feeding Elk on public lands?
I'm guesing that you can do it in Washington from reading the forums.
I had no idea it was legal.
-
So, what are you asking?
Legal - yes. Practical - probably not. Expensive - probably, elk eat a lot.
If you know a spot where they move through regularly and are trying to set up a good shot from a blind it might work pretty well.
-
just curious if it is legal. Don't plan on doing it, but good to know. I have run into salt licks in the woods and have always thought it was illegal.
No big deal, just wondering.

Perfectly okay.

Perfectly legal for Deer & Elk

Elk sure do seem to like salt blocks.

Granular trace mineral salt is better than blocks! Work it into the gound a little, and pretty soon you will have a large area that is pawed clean as they work the salt outta the ground! Good for getting lots of pics on the trail cams in the early summer. But, as the grass dries up, deer & elk don't need as much salt to help digest the fresh greens of spring and summer.

Salt works great but you can't put enough apples out.
