My second deer tag cost me $26. It sounds like they will be going to over $60 each starting Sept. 1st. :bash:
-
Yes, I think someone posted that they would be $66.
-
Okay...silly question I'm sure...
I am trying to purchase my second deer tag. My options are to choose my method of hunting, archery..etc.
But, I also have the multi season tag.
Do I still have to choose my method with the second deer? I'm assuming yes :dunno:
-
I'm thinking you have to pick your method, and that 2nd tag will only be valid for the one you choose. The multi-season tag can be used for all methods but I think with the 2nd tag you are only allowed to use the one method that you choose.
-
Yep...thats what I was thinking.....Dangit!
Thanks.
-
Well, at least you get to choose. If you didn't have the multi-season tag, you wouldn't have a choice. Your 2nd tag would be the same method as your regular general season tag.
-
Huh, I did not know that....didn't really think about it either :)
Well... first, and more than likely last time I put in for the second deer tag.
-
I was thinking about this again this morning, and my last post isn't very accurate. Now that you have already drawn the permit, you don't get to choose the method. The 2nd deer permits specify which tag is required. So your permit is a modern firearm, muzzleloader, or archery permit, and THAT is the tag you need to have to go with it.
But, it is true that having the multi-season tag did allow you to apply for any of the 2nd deer permits, regardless of which tag they required.
-
I guess I better buy my second tag tonight.
-
ya, this will be my first and last yr buying second deer, at 66 bucks next yr thats so much money
-
Its kind of unclear looking at the new rates, but it doesn't show how much specifically the second deer tag is. I DONT think it'll be 66 dollars. Most things up there increased about 10%. I'd expect it to be about 2-3 dollars more. The 66 is if you bundle the deer only tag/license with the small game license. Its not THAT big of a deal, just expect to pay 10% more than today.

that's kinda what I was thinking too.

Someone called and they were told it was $66. That was the cost of the 2nd deer tag, after having already purchased the first deer license and all. At least that is my understanding of it. And I did see several months ago that the proposed new fee was to be somewhere around $60 or $70.
But I'm guessing we will find out for sure here in a few days, from someone who purchased their 2nd tag after the price increase (which would be tomorrow).
I am betting they will be doing a little of this- :bash:
-
I wish I was selected so I could complain about the price of a second tag :chuckle: Good luck guys on filling your second tag
-
I don't think the proposed fee list is written correctly, the new one adds the price of a small game license to the tag on the higher price listed. But you can get a idea from this.
Old: Deer License= $42.30 (in the regs it says $45.20) , Second Deer Permit $26.00 in the 2011 regs
New (tomorrow): $42.90, second deer permit not listed... but based on what has been done before I dont expect it'll change very much.
Old/Current: https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wdfw/licenses_fees.html (https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wdfw/licenses_fees.html)
New/Tomorrow: http://wdfw.wa.gov/licensing/license_fees.html (http://wdfw.wa.gov/licensing/license_fees.html)
biggest changes are Deer, Elk, Bear, Cougar Combo: Old= List $79.20, Regs say $81.20, NEW= $93.50
Moose, Bighorn, Goats go from $122 to $330
Bear and Cougar go from $24 for both to $22 each
Quality special hunt apps go from $6 to $13.20
Combo fishing up from $46.50 to $52.25
-
$66 for 2nd deer tag as of Sept 1st, they gave us that in a handout at the WDFW meetings.
-
My problem with the $66 is that it is more than the cost for the first deer tag. We'll see tomorrow, but I highly doubt it. Especially cause all second deer is now Antlerless only.

Thank you... as I stated in the thread I started earlier, the increase will result in a $66.00 tag (not including dealer fees). I called WDFW, and also saw the dealer fee list today that is given to them by WDFW. That's about a $75.00 doe when you figure dealer fee and application fee. Better be looking for the biggest damn doe you can find!
-
If I could bet you my second doe tag that it won't be $66 dollars or higher tomorrow for the second deer permit I would. Not sure what I'd win from your side, but I'd put the tag on it!
-
Just ran out and got mine :IBCOOL:
I be lookin for the doe I saw last year.
-
Just attempted to get mine. It is now 66.00 + dealer fees. I guess it is my fault as I did not realize there was going to be an increase. However, for 66.00 I passed and wont use the tag. Idaho continues to look better every year.
-
I finally bought my bear/cougar tags last night, just before the price increase. It was $24 plus a $3 fee. Does anyone know what it would be now, for just the bear/cougar, if you already had purchased deer/elk?
-
Sure as sh*t, right now you go on there and it is listed at $66. I wont be applying for second deer permits anymore.
-
Just went online to buy mine would've been 68.50 dollars if I would've finished the process. I guess the state can kiss my hairy @$$
-
:bash:I wish I could have a second deer tag, and I apply for whidbey every year :bash: I guess you have to live off the island to get a second tag on the island :bash:

You should have a lot less competition next year. Who in their right mind is going to pay $68.50 to shoot a blacktail island doe. (Not to mention the $6.50 special permit application). Basically it comes down to a little more than $75 and a royal pain in the arse to shoot a blacktail doe.
I can maybe see it for a muley doe...thats a maybe.
Question: How do they justify your first deer being $42.90 and the second being $66. The new prices for bear are $22... and the price for the second is $22. Are they dumb or do they think we are?
-
I'm sure somewhere there's a link posted somewhere, but could somebody please post it back up. ( New prices on WDFW licenses after 9/1/11). Thanks.
-
Go here, scroll down under the information section and hit "License Fees" and click the particular category of fee you are looking for (Big Game, Fishing, Small Game, etc) and it is all listed. That is before the online dealer fees and such.

been trying for three years now, and I rotate back to sea duty soon. This is my last year of clean hunting for the next six years :bash: :bash:

Looks to me like the 2nd tag hunts are pretty much reserved for the kids now. If you're under 16 (considered a youth) then the tag is only $22. At least the kids will have a better chance of drawing them, and $22 is a fair price. I hope it stays that way for a while, I've got about five more years till my oldest daughter will be old enough to hunt.

I threw out the heads up, so you could be the buzzer. Oh well.
-
dang, wish i would have read this earlier!
$66 is a little more than the $26 i originally planned for a doe hunt!
good work by the wdfw to sneak in price increases after the regs are printed. don't think i received an email or anything about this......a little ridiculous if you ask me.
my own fault though, just wanted to rant a bit
-
They put out a notification for all the price increases, but for some reason the 2nd deer tag was left out. :dunno:
-
Do you guys think it Will stay at 66 bucks or will get reduced when they only get half the applicants next year.
-
Just when I thought the WDFW could not get any dinner they do this. I can understand raising my prices. Bit going from 26 to 66 is STUPID! I mean tje second tag costs more than the first tag. I bet these economically stupid people will be confused as to why the second tags don't sell. Simple economics you can only raise the price if the demand is more than the supply. I bet they keep the price and do something stupid to try and solve it.
