Any chance we can get a sticky at the where all the breeder websites for various kinds of dogs can be listed? Might help when people are looking to pick out a new pup.

Breeders from the site? Breeders in Washington?
http://www.gundogbreeders.com/ (http://www.gundogbreeders.com/)
Go here for any information regarding who is breeding for the most part. There are also certain breeder clubs that have websites for the breeders they approve.

pretty much every breed has a breed club which has a website and contact information. Usually, for good breedings, you'll need to get on a waiting list and put down a deposit prior to the whelping. You'll find these types of breedings by researching the breed and finding out who's who' by repeated attempts at finding the perfect dog.

I don't have a problem sticky'ing a list of breeders or kennels that are site sponsors. I don't want to advertise for a bunch of folks who don't contribute to the site out of respect for the folks who do. There's only a couple though.
Thats my :twocents: .

I would agree with your two cents. It would probably get you several more sponsors by sticky'ing it.

Why would you sponsor the site if you can advertise for free? I know there are enough good breeders and people involved with dogs here on this site to offer their opinions and direction which doesn't lead members astray. No need to make this like a Little Nickel advertisemnt. Crap, if you want or, are willing to pay for a good quality product I'd think that a person doesn't go looking in a yellow newspaper....Not to say you can't find a good deal in the yellow paper because I've bought a washer and dryer from there......just depends on what you want..... folks who want a responsibly bred dog who represents some dedication to the chosen breed will search for what fits their needs. I don't want to sound like a pompous ass and put down any dog bought from a Nickel want add because I know damn good and well a good dog can come from any backyard and be the best buddy any person could have.....but, if someone is just wanting to advertise, make some money.....well, if you have the ability and effort to advertise, I'll hold you accountable for what you produce because you are trying to make money. If you had some pups, whoops, sh*t happens.....we've all been there and no need to put anyone down yet, here is the deal.....
Way too many people breed dogs over and over to make a buck with no regard for what they are doing. These are the people who don't deserve to breed a dog. They don't check hips on their labs, they have hip issues and keep breeding away. It pisses me off. My sister has two chocolates from the same breeder in Goldendale. Wouldn't listen to me about the reasons for spending an extra $200 and buying from someone who does breeding correctly. She thought the guy was nice and the puppies were cute. :bash:
Her one Chocolate dog had to be put down at 5 because of severe hip issues. Her other is now 6 and showing early signs of problems. Has allergies and she bought the dog from the same guy who promotes Chocolates from Goldendale. He talks about all his great hunting dogs, all of the special people who hunt over his dogs ect....yet, the guy continues to keep breeding the same crap and put bad dogs on the market....People get these dogs with issues and keep breeding. It's a compounding problem. You put out a litter of 10 dogs, a few of those get bred again, a few of those get bred again.....by doing this, you aren't helping better the breed and really are just contributing to more and more issues by breeding bad over and over.....
Needless to say, she's listening to me now....after another heartbreak which is on the horizon. Putting another dog down early directly due to bad breeder practices. This is the pup that my nephew has had growing up and should be with him for quite a while but, now, I get to educate him on why his dog will be dead at a young age instead of living to be 10+ years old and getting to retrieve the first duck he shoots in the next year or two...

I gotta be honest, I don't follow what you're getting at and I mean that in the most polite way possible. I'm not trying to be a smartass. Feel free to pm me if you want to explain what you mean.
If you want to advertise on this site, we charge a minimum charge of $25 a year to do it. You can't advertise your business on here unless you're a sponsor. We've got a sticky list of taxidermists on here, we've got a sponsors page with a lot of sponsor info and we've got a forum set aside just for the $25 a year sponsors to post ads in. If you're not a paying sponsor and you try to advertise, it will get deleted. Nobody can advertise for free on here. Sponsors paying for advertising is what keeps this site up and running. It pays the bills so to speak. This isn't free to have and the intent is not to make it a Little Nickel advertisement.

sorry, just started ranting..shouldn't start typing after beers.. :chuckle:...I guess if there would be a sticky on it, I'd say there should be some requirements that the "breeder" prove. Maybe pups should be registered or show a history of registering them, a member of their selected breed parent club, they have OFA, EIC, DM etc done on their breeding stock etc? That is what most web sites do to ensure the users of their site are only sent to responsible breeders....

In the past, anyone has been able to post asking others about good breeders they would reccommend and if someone is looking for a pup, that is always an option.
I have placed three pups to members on this site. If a responsible breeder can't afford the $25 to be a sponsor and hope to find great hunting homes for their dogs, then they don't deserve a "sticky", at least in my opinion.
