Story...
I went down to the Lewis unit for three days. It was hotter then I could bone out an elk and get it out of there before it would spoil. So I packed up and went back home. I hunted local to my house so that I could get the elk out before it would spoil.
I hit some of my places and found three bulls. I snuck in at 3:30 AM and crawled in to the grass to were they were feeding. Some other hunters came in at about 6:15 AM and started bugling and the herd started to move right at me. They did not know I was there. The bull put his nose up a few ladies tails and they ran by me then the bull walked by a 20 yards. I never called once and I used the other hunter's call to push the elk to me.
But they were kind of calling with questionable wind direction.

WOW, very nice!

Thanks for the kind words. What do you think he would score? I need to find someone in the Puyallup area to do a quick tape of it for free. I will have the head in boiling water sometime this coming week. My money went to my son's college and my daughter's wedding so no mount for me. Thank God the daughter is finished with college.
-
I am terrible at scoring so no guess here..
That rack will make a killer euro mount.. can not wait to see it done.
-
HuntBear,
I was soo close to saying that I pulled that bull out of were you hunt. But I could not type it in... :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
I agree the euro mount will really look cool with those dark horns.
-
I saw him laying in that tall grass, and I was wondering if you went into my honey hole.... lol....
Glad you got a good one...
-
There was a 5x5 that was taller then this bull which was in the mix and a taller whiter antlered that I could not pick out through my bino's in the dark. He was a short timer as soon as the buglers started in he was gone and the 5x5 split soon after. They did not bark they just moved off into the timber.
-
Congrats that's a beautiful animal!

I can't stop looking at it. What a wonderfull bull. Congratulations.
-
After all the weight was measured it is offically my largest weighted bull. I usually get about 300 to 320 lbs of boned out meat per small bull and 337 for my largest bull. But this one topped them all by a few lbs. 346 lbs is what we got out of this bull. The backstraps were almost 6 inches diameter at the thickest point of the strap.

Nice bull! What GMU?
I would almost bet money he got it in 652. I think I seen that bull a few weeks ago, but Im not positive. Regardless, 652 is hard to hunt unless you can get access to lots of private land.
By the way beautiful bull and congrats!
-
well done! great color on that Bull!
-
Thats a hog! Love them dark antlers!
-
Shweeeeet!!!!!!!! Very nice...Yes, it was mighty hot down in the Lewis..spent 10 days down there and had the worst hunt I have had in WA so far :(
-
The Lewis I had played four bulls. The problem was the heat. Lots of bulls in that unit.
-
I would assume those were slugs you found in the quarters. Was this old boy hobbled?
Congrats on a dandy bull.
-
Nope, he had his nose up the girls tails chasing them and he was keeping a 4x4 and another bull that I could not get a good view of away from his girls.
-
what did this bull end up scoring?
