Hey Guys...simple question here...but I am not seeing an answer in the regs...
I was wondering what the legal amount of rounds would be to have in a clip while hunting ....specifically, I will be hunting coyotes. My deer rifle only carries 3 in the clip...that is not my worry...
My AR 15 carries a bit more...
Just curious if there was a number that I was missing. This has not been much of an issue for me otherwise, since I usually hunt with my deer rifle.
Cheers~

Don't think there is a "limit" for coyotes or anything for that matter, I think the only stipulation that would be an issue would be hunting with an automatic weapon, and that may not even be an issue !! :dunno:

That was what I thought...just wasnt sure...of course, I wont make you swear by it in court...
Off to go calling shortly...we'll see if anything happens... ;)
Well..I know there is a 3 shell limit for ducks...but otherwise...;)
Thanks~

I'll rephrase that what I meant was hunting with your weapon on fully automatic !! :chuckle:

I am not sure of the answer, but I always thought it was limited to five rounds.
-
I think my 30-30 holds seven....
-
As of mid-last season, there was no rule limiting the number of rounds that can be held in a magazine (fixed or removeable).
Hunting with an automatic weapon is clearly listed as illegal in the regs.

thbradford, I think we are old, I think there used to be a 5 round law, we used to ask ourselves about the 30-30 rifles and the 44 mag rifles.
I am not sure at all but I think the rule went away. I will check my resources and report.

I usually slap the 50 rounder in the mini-14. I sure hope there is no limit. I usually dont get em till about shot 10 or 12 when the dust trail of bullets finally catches up :chuckle: :mgun:
way more fun to just shoot like crazy rather than aim. :chuckle:

Our State attempted to pass a law of only 5 rounds, but it never happened for rifles.
Shotguns have a limit of 3, so make sure your plug is in there! ;)
Rifles...well, if you need more than a couple anyway.....
But, no limit as of now.
WaStickSlinger-boy oh boy, your sure gonna start stuff with THAT post! ;) seen folks who actually hunt like that down on the Snake....thats why I only hunted there ONCE.

I only asked, as all I had for my AR was 30 round clips, which came with the gun. I just didnt want to have to go out and get different clips... ;)

I prefer the pray THEN spray

Isn't the 3-round rule only for wing shooters?
I think i'll double-check the regs....I don't shotgun hunt anyway, but I was thinking you could have more than three if you were hunting them thar non-winged critters.
-
Yep, three rounds for bird hunters, not slug guns for deer.

I havent seen anything in the rule on a limit. My deer/elk gun only holds 3, my yote gun is an AR15 and I usally just have a 20rd mag with 10rd's in it.
