VIDEO: Moose struggles in Pasco canal
By Bob Brawdy, Herald photo editor
A bull moose struggles and tires Sept. 19 in the concrete lined Esquatzel Diversion Channel, about six miles north of Pasco, Wash. An officer from the Department of Fish and Wildlife shot and killed the moose after officials determined it too risky to attempt a rescue of the 1,000-pound animal.
Editor's note: This video does not show the killing.

saw that in the paper this morn. wife & i both wish they had tried something different to get him out. better to have him die in an attempt rather than just be shot. the only good thing is the meat will be put to good use.

That's too bad he had to go out like that. I heard about this one wandering around on Sunday and word was they were trying to keep it quiet so that it wouldn't get poached. Pretty sad that our county has that kind of reputation although it's probably a well founded reputation. The last moose I saw around here was back in 1996 and he was also within half a mile of the esquatzel.

if it had been a damn wolf they sure as heck would have saved it :bash:

A wolf doesn't weigh a thousand pounds.
