How long are the Indians going to net 8-2 and the stilly? Its a joke. Got a call from my dad today and he stopped by the boat launch at the stilly and two indians were trying to sell sturgeon that they caught in their nets to the people fishing from shore. What a bunch of scum they are. They had a boat load of coho and pinks just sitting in the sun rotting. Then we proceeded to try the salt and saw 9 different netting boats along the main shore. We called the WDFW about the indians selling the sturgeon. The state said to call the tribe, because they don't deal with tribal affairs. So we did and of course no answer and no call back.....go figure. This state is screwed. The indians have so much power and have the WDFW scarred to do anything. I just hope all the indians in that area know that their ancestors are rolling over in their grave, for what they are doing to the resource. I would be ashamed to be a part of that tribe for what they are doing. They will sit their and talk about traditions and their pride. What"s the pride and traditions to wipe out a run of fish? They have netted solid for well over a month.

Get pictures and send to the press.

Love your idea iceman. I think we should all start telling the story to the press. Maybe get these jerks to learn how to manage a resource rather than piss it away
-
and i wouldn't settle on just one source. send it to all the local stations. seems they all want to compete for the better story & might have better luck getting some exposure.

Their greed is out of control. WDFW should be able to do something about them selling sturgeon tho, it would be lame if they didn't. They may be too busy writing tickets for barbed hooks or people using bait But yea pictures or video are worth a thousand words. I hope the press would make a story and publish it.

it is a race to kill the last one.

A race being run by all races. The cowboys have been netting the sound forever. In some runs, over 70 or 80 percent of the total adult returns are caught in the ocean off Alaska, Canada, and WA. Realistically, the tribes are just a small part of the overall harvest problem we have.

Well stated.

anyone seen the documentarys about the illegal asian asault on the fisheries off of alaska & canada? dont have a link or anything but have watched a few over the years & how they will wipe out a run before being run off, if thier caught. Its a big ocean.
I dont agree with alot of the stuff the tribes do but i also think this is a major concern to our northwest runs that never gets addressed.

At least comercial nets are watched, and ticketed for wastefull acts, unlike 8-2 where their tribe allows their people to do what they want, when they want.
Take videos, and pics, and send them in! Time to start cleaning up, they have eyes in the woods, we need eyes next to nets!! :twocents:

I think the problem is in everyone's neck of the woods. Things will get bad enough again, poor returns will get blamed on Elnino or something so they'll close down sport fishing for a few years. Meanwhile hatcheries will try to pump out more fish. Such a perfect world we live in :bdid:
