Title: Goose Prairie Quality Rifle Bull

I have maybe 7 days total of my life elk hunting and it is a trophy to me. Been lucky. 2 years in a row to draw bull tags. I think I might quit after this one but it is so addicting especially when they are bugling.

Im glad this tag isnt going to waste.....but a rifle during this time of the rut isnt too tough to get them in range. It was just like on TV with this one. Bugle...bugle back and them come running! I love that stuff.

Post by: Sawbuck on September 27, 2011, 05:34:11 AM: Congrats on a nice bull. Were they rutting very hard during your hunt? I was in there last weekend and didn't hear a bugle, saw a good 6x6, and he was by himself. It was weird, I figured the rut must be a little late this year.

Post by: seaduckhunter on September 27, 2011, 08:46:26 AM: We got in on Sat. Morning to rain and when the rain let up it was bugles all around. They bugled all night long and were all congregated around the meadow.
I think that cold snap got them going. There was frost on the ground monday night

Post by: seaduckhunter on September 27, 2011, 10:46:44 AM: Got some info this morning about the bull. Biologist said he was 11 years old and was collared in 2003. He said they don't keep data on the bulls only the cows. They use the bulls to help locate the herds.
