On Saturday, my dad, brother, and I ended our muzzleload season. It was a really good year. I normally do a decently long writeup, but with too many stories to tell and too many essays to grade (procrastination), here are the pictures. We had five tags and filled them all. Nothing really big, but with five tags filled in four days of hunting, a guy really can't complain. My brother still has a late whitetail tag and my mom has a general rifle tag. She claims she'll be selective, but I don't believe her.

Here are the elk pictures. And the bloody hole on my buck is the entrance hole. I'm shooting the Hornady SST bullets. I've shot two elk and four bucks prior to this season with a muzzleloader, and these two animals were the first times that the bullet has ever exited the animal. I'm pretty happy with these bullets.

The buck was 50 yards, steep downhill angle and quartered away. For the shortened story: I spotted the buck feeding in an eyebrow between two wheat fields. I had to approach with the wind at my back; it was blowing hard enough that I was hoping it would blow past him. I snuck through the wheat, crept up to the edge, and he was feeding right where I last saw him. I waited until he was quartering away, shot, and could instantly see blood. He maybe went thirty yards down hill and tipped over. I was pretty damn excited after a tough two days with very few decent bucks spotted. That's a bummer on your buck, but both animals I shot this year with it and the buck last year have gone a combined 35 yards.

I have no idea how these mushroomed either, being as they exited all the animals I've shot with them. But they put a pretty damn decent hole even if they don't mushroom.

Nice Job!!

Yup, father-in-law and I had cow tags this year. A dumb spike got to close to me. My pop-in-law shot a cow about an hour before that. Plenty of hiking/packing followed. Even Kyle got in the rotation. I hope Rob gets one before the close of the season.

Right on!!!! Way to get it done man!
