Title: SW washington grouse hunting
Post by: jsharptooth91 on October 05, 2011, 01:24:17 PM
Hi all,

I have been out a couple of times for grouse around the Larch Mt area. Haven't seen much. Is this a good area to hunt at?

This is my second time going out hunting. By all the research I have read, they should be found down old logging roads in the mourning and evenings.

Also, if anyone going grouse hunting/bird in SW Washington and would like a partner, shoot me a pm.. It would be nice to see how this is done. :IBCOOL:

You'll want to find roads that have really low levels of traffic and go when it rains, thats when they are on the roads eating the small rocks. you can also try the small stands of timber in the middle of clear cuts, I've been startled by a few grouse when walking though those.

Larch has way to much traffic, you need head NE to canyon creek or east more.

Thanks for this. I will go more east and see what I can find. Thanks for the feedback.

There are several gated roads up there. Walk the road on wet soggy days and you'll find them in the road.
