I was curious how often most folks on here eat wild game and thought I'd ask the question.
-
Every now and then. I donate a lot of my wild game as well as beef. We eat mostly beef, cuz it's what we raise.
-
We live off the wild game so multiple times a week here!
-
Very few days go by that wild game is not on the menu. Wild meat makes up the overwhelming majority of red meat. All hamburger, sausage, roasts, and most steak is wild game. Chikn and the occasional beef steak.
-
We eat it at least once a week. Sometimes more.
-
Several.
While supplies last. :chuckle:

:yeah:
-
We don't buy much meat in our house. Bacon and some chicken, pork ribs now and then for a BBQ. PathfinderJR and I generally are able to keep the freezer stocked with enough red meat to get us through to the next hunting season.
-
this last year I've eaten quite a bit thanks to sweet people who share...I havent killed any of my own critters yet....otherwise we eat whatever I can find on sale...we used to eat lots of lamb when I raised sheep ....
-
I haven't eaten wild game since I was about 14 or 15 years old. I am really hoping to get a deer this year though so I can change that. :EAT:
-
Damn near everyday til its gone.
-
Not often enough!! I'd eat it everyday if I could.
-
yes, not often enough. guess you have to be successful on a regular basis to keep the freezer full. mine is looking a little empty at this point.
-
We eat venison atleast a few days a week we have been blessed with some great country to hunt, and my kids have become pretty good shots. We are working on finishing off the last 25lbs or so of hamburger left from last year, allong with the leftovers of the pig we slaughter every year, and the quarter of beef I get from the neighbor every year as well thank god we have two freezers.
-
Between the elk burger, steaks, roast. Deer pepperonie, summer sausage. Halibut, lingcod, seabass and salmon. Not very much is bought at the store.
-
I haven't bought meat from the store in something like 12 years.
-
Not enough!
-
I have put 5 animals in my freezer in the last 3 years so we eat it about 5 times a week or more.
-
2-4 times a week. We are going to try our hand at pepperoni this week so will probably eat it a lot more if that turns out. One kid is not a big meat or fish eater so we have chicken thrown in as well as wild game and fish.
-
As much as i can while its in stock in the freezer!!!
-
If my freezer was full I would eat it all the time, or at least a couple times a week, but since it is not full, we limit the intake to every other week or so. The only time we go hog wild is for the week after a harvest. ;)
-
We live off of it. My family eats it at least twice a week. I am getting a bit worried about not filling my elk tag since my deer was small. I am going to see if I can locate a nice cow in the late archery.
-
In some form, nearly every day. Jerky, sausages, burger, stew meat, you name it.
-
bout every day too.
-
More often during the winter, until its gone!
-
If I were more successful, I would eat it more often... :chuckle:
-
I would eat it more often, its just that as soon as its in the freezer, its all we eat til its gone, as well. With 3 kids, and only me as a hunter, it goes quick! The daughter got a youth doe tag, so theres more!
-
I can't wait for those days. I have a few mre years to go until my daughter is ready to take the plunge. I am taking her out to my dad's deer camp for the weekend this year. I have been taking her since she was 1.5 years....this will be our 3rd year going up there. She is super excited, we had all her gear out last night and going through our packlist. It was awesome.
-
id say about 85% of the meat i eat is wild game, the other 15% is chicken and breakfast meats and the seldom beef steak when i get a craving for a good T-bone or the once a year christmas prime rib roast with the rest of the family that wont voluntarily eat wild game, although ive been known to slip a deer stake or two on the christmas buffet
-
Had some delicious elk steaks provided by D-Rock just yesterday thank you very much.
-
constantly until its gone.....
-
:yeah:
-
On the menu 2nite!
-
Any red meat comes from wild game which is typically elk or deer.
-
Elk Backstrap last night....
Deer burger in hamburger helper tonight.
YUMMMMM
-
Think there needs to be a everyday until I run out option.
-
We have wild game on a regular basis, salmon and halibut from Alaska, deer, elk and the occasional goose from Washington. My son’s girlfriend thinks we’re from another planet. She keeps asking me what we have planned for dinner, which is generally followed by a squint and a shiver. We’ll see if she lasts long.
-
2 or 3 times a week. The kids can't skip dinner every night. :chuckle:
-
I got 3 bucks and a bull this year, so I eat wild game several times a week. I love it!
-
Steak, Burger or Kilbosa 3-4 times a week. Snack on Pepperoni close to daily until its gone.
-
As often as I can..
-
depends how my season goes...this year I have been eating it 3 times a week
-
Not several times a week, but more than once a month. Its delicious
-
Every now and then. I donate a lot of my wild game.

Hey if you get the urge to donate some wild game again, could you shoot me a PM? ;)
-
about 5x today :) cooked up a pack of deer steaks cuz my buddy had never had venison!
-
as often as supplies allow, the wife and kids love it....
-
At least 2x a week
-
1 - 2 times a week
-
4-5 days a week at least... Between deer, elk, bear, fish and seafood
-
I hate deer meat. I haven't shot an elk in years, but that's the only wild meat I like.
-
couple times a month or more till it's all gone.
-
Beef free since 93'
-
A lot....prob 4-5x per week. I give lots of meat to my grandparents and other family members tho!
-
Several times a week....that is when we still have some in the freezer. I get a good amount of my elk into ground meat. Works for all kinds of dishes. Plus the steaks, pep, sausage, jerky, ect. And I do a good amount of fishing too if you are counting that.
-
As many times as I can. Having some tonight.
-
Almost everyday. Elk, Deer, Fish, etc. Haven't bought beef in about 8 years.
Smoked salmon for lunch today, and summer sausage for dinner appetizer!
-
I have been very blessed to eat wild game for most of my life! It fills the freezer. Thank you Lord Jesus! The meat/ fish is so helpful.
-
Several times a week for sure, If I have jerky or summer sausage done I eat it almost every day.
-
Just stopped by a buddie's place and had some Jalepeno-cheese elk kelbasa with him...too good for words...
-
I voted for the wrong one. Meant to say several times per week.
Antelope sausage, burger & steaks
2-4 times per week until we run out :bash:, usually mid summer
-
Any time meat is on the menu it is more often than not wild game or line caught fish. Of course we do get the occational Costco rottiserie chicken, but that's only about once a month. Haven't killed a pig in a few years so it comes from the store recently- again about once a month (going to have to fix that problem in January).
With only the wife and myself it takes a lot to eat two elk a couple deer, around 100 pheasant and chuckars, and the surprise of the year (this year Dall sheep-my goodness it's yummy). Yeah, we've gotten a little fat over the years. But, we are awful happy!
Tonight was deer pepperoni pizza. Doesn't get much better than that.
-
this week;
Tues : NM mule deer and a snipe I shot over the weekend.
Wed: WA mallard and a canvasbackI shot over the weekend.
Tonight; steelhead, crabz, clams and smoked pink salmon.
Rare year this year, my freezer is stocked well with wild meat.
-
this week:
Idaho mule deer roast
smoked salmon
cougar backstraps
-
I estimate at least three times per week. We very rarely purchase any red meat.
-
Deer steaks tonight...
-
elk....twice a week
-
Several times a week at least..... But we but the occasional pork chop once a month or so.... We raise our own chickens for the table.... Lately my wife has been buying ground turkey burger.... It's alright.... But now that I got my new grinder for Christmas we can get back to ground deer and elk......
-
seems like that is all we eat, plus the grouse.
-
The only meat we buy at the store is chicken and maybe bacon. Even our pork, beef, lamb, goat is all processed at home. Lots of elk, deer, salmon, halibut, shrimp, pheasant, duck etc.. is eaten here.
-
Thread reminded me to thaw out five pounds of deer burger to make jerky this week end.
-
At least 3 times a week, a lot of ducks to eat, venison of all kinds and a lot of salmon and trout. Grouse is all gone >:(
-
Just ate a bunch of pan fried duck tonight! Had some last week too.
-
deer n mtn goat killer meat its going fast evryone wants some drew a once in a life tag and all the meats almost gone
-
I prefer to eat meat that I know where it came from, rather than buying it from the store. I know where the meat has been throughout the processing. I do all of it myself.
-
every day that im home.
-
The Mrs mentioned to me this morning on the way out the door, "it's elk kabobs for dinner tonight." :EAT:
-
Usually once or twice a week.
-
2-3 times a week depends on what the wifes cooking
-
I try to more than once a week, usually grind up a lot even some steak cuts, just because we use a lot of ground meat. Why cut it into something that you're not going to use. In fact I'm out of Elk breakfast sausage so I'm thinking of grinding up a few roast to make more.
-
Several times a week.
Mostly burger in some sort of dish, but we also make and eat a buch of sausage. Running low on steaks but we do have a lot of burger.
-
Not enough! Freezer looks pretty full
-
this week:
Idaho mule deer roast
smoked salmon
cougar backstraps
Bearpaw, How are those cat straps? Is there any other meat to compare to? I have never tried it. If I ever kill one I will eat it as that's how I was brought up but a little hesitant
-
Practically everyday. Now it might just be a couple pieces of jerky, a pepperoni stick, slice of salami, etc. but yes, almost every day. As far as full meals go, probably 6+ times a week. All the burger and most of the sausage we consume is made from some kind of critter.
-
:ACRY: I ran out of venison today.. :yike:
-
Jesus Christ that would be a tragedy. I can honestly say I have not run out of venison since 1987.
