SWEET :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:
Dude, had fun today checking out new areas and getting out in the boats
To bad we didn't make it to the Nisqaully area, not enough time today :dunno:

here you go...standing by for comment. :bash:

I think that is a cool Pic.
I like the trail behind me as I move through the pads.

how much did that cost to make?

About $300...........With mistakes and redueing them :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Gasman that is great! I personally dont trust my boat making skills on the water :yike: but plan on getting either a marsh rat or jon boat someday. How would a sneak boat like that hold up to some waves?

I dont know. More of a flat water boat IMO. (same for swamp rat. these are about the same size as swamp rat)

thanks, where I duck hunt it depends on the tide, if we get waves or not.

There may be others on here that have experance with them on tidal waters. The will be able to answer that situation better then I.

I've had mine on the salt but I'm pretty cautious when it comes to any big-ish waves. I do suspect they can handle some decent water though, as any chop will roll up onto and off of the bow. I think the issue would be if you are into waves big enough to start filling the boat (obviously) :yike:

I wouldn't mess around with waves with one of these pod type boats. They swamp quickly or fill fast. Some have better floatation so you may just get wet. They are good around the edges of the big water where you can get to safety if need be. Some of the actual layout boats will do much better in the open water as they are made not to sink, but you still rely on a tender vessel for safety and bird retrieval. Everything still falls onto common sense. If you lack it, we will be reading about you in the paper. If the water starts to get big, pull out.

Looks like you guys did a nice job on those boats.
-
Nice job boys...bet they were fun to build also. Something I may need to do in the future. I could see it being effective when pulled behind a larger boat in order to get to an area than launch the layout. Only problem is where to put the dog? I just can't see duck hunting without a dog.

looks like fun! glad the boats worked good for ya!

did u see any ducks while you were out there...i know the area :IBCOOL:
-
bow...every spot we went we saw birds. not huge flocks but ranged anywhere from 10-20. all talking alot too.
Sun...i hear ya. but i tested that theory yesterday after a few beers...lol. pretty stable in my opinion. :pee: lol

This is our "Secret Spot".....so how could you know about it :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
I am very impressed with the stability of these boats. I am 300+lbs and have added a electric motor and batty to my set up, and it is very stable. I have no fear of standing up in it at all, I do it all the time.
If these do get soaked with water, they will float, they have about 4 cubic feet of Marine grade foam in the front and back of the boat, so I would venture to say that the worst thing is the freezing water to worry about if they do get filled with water some how. I actually was going to test that theory this summer by purposely filling it with water and seeing how it would do but never got around to it.
And they were a blast to build and we keep coming up with things to add to them to make them more custom.
I plan on building another one that is 10ft long for me and my dog. I am planning on modifying the front of the boat so the top deck is longer (reaches farther back) and cutting a platform on it. Keepinf some of the shape but then flattening out the top so my dog can sit on it. It is going to be hard to not hunt with my dog in these but will make exceptions where I bring him and hunt from shore and use the boat for setting Deeks.

Great to see your project done and put to use . I would be interested in the plans if you have them ....I did follow up on how you build it ,but I can't remember if you had a link to the plans or not. Now 10' sounds like lot of fun .... it looks like I'll be siting home most of time in winter cause there is no work ,and if it is inexpensive I could do it . So if you can can you post the link or PM me? Have fun

Hey Cap.Silver -
I might could be into helping or what-not. I would like to build my own also. Lemme know if you want a hand - I do have a tiny bit of experience painting one.
