:hello:
Finally the season is here!
For those of you who have written me with your excitement to view our videos, photos, adventures and stories from our camps this year, here is where i will post all of them. I appreciate those of you that show the same passion for the stories/photos and adventures as I do. :)
This year will be even more memorable than past years. My dad is now 100% cancer free  and doing much better. He should be able to hunt and hike the hills as he was not able to much last year. A celebration of time to cherish with my dad and my family as well as good friends.
We will be in the same camp for the next four weekends on and off depending on the week. We will have the biggest camp we have had in the 5 years we have been going to this area, so it should be interesting. We will have almost 60 feet of wall tent and 8-10 guys in camp. I have a feeling that this year is our YEAR!.
Good luck to everyone this General season. Have a safe hunt and make some memories.
Here is the schedule.
1. Gen Mule Deer Camp Weekend Only Fri-Sun Oct 14-16
2. Gen Mule Deer Camp Thur-Sun Oct 20-23
3. Gen Spike Elk Camp Wed Oct 26th-Nov 6th
if you want to see past hunting camp vids you can always check em out on my channel. http://www.youtube.com/backwoodsboysmith (http://www.youtube.com/backwoodsboysmith)

Got back late last night from opening weekend mule deer camp. Saw about 15 deer and all but 1 were does.
my brother caught a glimpse of a spike Saturday evening on our way back to camp. Had a great time with some ol buddies and ate some grubbin food.
Tonight we repack and restock and leave again on thursday at noon. Back at it thursday evening.
Dad is gonna make it up this trip and hopfully we can find him a legal buck to whack.
-
dutch oven pulled pork shoulder sandwiches.

Shouldn't there be meat hanging in the trees or do all of you carry a knife and a fork with you hunting. :chuckle:
Looks like good times.
-
not meat hanging just yet. hope to whack one this coming weekend.

LAYOUT UPDATED FOR CAMP...
-
Looks like your "Pulled Pork" sammiches had a Russian twist...
-
nah that was for the cook. :IBCOOL:
-
Backwoods- Oh no that Russian Vodka bottle in the pulled pork pic. that stuff is bad (terrible) :bash:, I got so sick off of that stuff once I haven't had a drink in over 5 years that did me right in. I thought I was going to go to the hospital puked all night
-
i dont drink that stuff, my buddy drinks it with rockstar. I stay away from that kind. Had a similar experience with monarch. :chuckle:
these days i fill my flask with FIREBALL.
at camp i usually enjoy a vodka cranberry or OJ vodka. (sky vodka or platinum)

The little lady and I are packing up for another weekend warrior trip to our mule deer spot.
Leaving in the morning bright and early and coming home sunday evening to begin packing for our 10 day trip back to the same spot.
Definitely feeling the gas prices these days. This will be our 4th trip over since July, but this is what we do. We look forward to these trips all year and nothing can take them away from us. Dad is getting excited for next week and i cant wait to get him back up in the woods.
We will be packing on monday and tuesday then my dad, uncle and brother are headed over to start setting up the big elk camp.
CANT WAIT!!! The rest of us will be over to camp on thursday or friday. Then not be home till NOV 6th. :hello:
Good luck to all!!!

Be back Sunday evening.

:hello:
Got back from gen. mule deer camp last night and I had 3 different emotions running thru my head.
Frustration, Motivation, Anxiety.
Here was our tally.
We saw:
6 very nice DEAD bucks hanging
1 HUGE 7x7 160" Mule Deer-Photos, killed during Muzzleloader season down the same road we walked down.
4 does
8 turkeys
10 ELK
29 Timber Tigers
3 black stump bears
All in all we had an amazing mule deer general season. We still have 1 maybe 2 more deer hunts planned (muzzy and archery) and hopefully we can financially be able to take them.
Gotta love the Multi season tags. Been huntin almost every weekend since Sept 1st.
We hiked and discovered a lot of cool areas and found some very cool spots that should prove valuable this next two weeks for ELK.
The one thing that i really have enjoyed by going to the same area in the woods for the past 4 weekends in a row is the changing of the seasons, leaves and weather. The leaves in this area are such a golden bright yellow and red that you just have to stop and look.
The aspens are my favorite.
Tonight we begin repacking for the BIG elk camp trip. Grocery shopping tomorrow and camp set up on wednesday.
10 Days in the woods chasing elk.... Cant wait!!! :IBCOOL:
I have also really enjoyed the time with my little lady in the woods.
She is becoming quite the little Hunter. :cmp1:
Here is a few photos from this past friday-sun trip.
Enjoy. :brew:
to be continued.....................

Is the fun meter still pegged? :chuckle: Just messing with you. Anytime in the woods is better than at home!
-
ha ha fun meter is always pegged in october... :chuckle:

Glad to know that not just the KILL is what people consider a good camp.
We have made tons of memories and that's what counts.
Our camps are always open to visitors.

This was a new term to me until recently, but I think 'timber tiger' refers to either squirrels or chipmunks.
