A week before I leave for Oklahoma to kill me some nice furry critters I have to have my cable replaced on my bow :bash:! $50 down the tube :bash:! Im not sure when or how it happend but the clip that holds the string (and bushing) onto the limb came off at some point and slowly chewed through the cable. Im not mad I took it in before I left Im mad I didnt take it in sooner so it would have been cheaper to fix and a whole lot more safe to shoot. well could have been worse I guess.

It could have happened while you were hunting. Now at least that won't break!

Yeah, you're lucky you found it when you did. And, $50 is peanuts. Cable and string for me $160.
-
Luckily the string is fine just the cable is screwed up. It could have been worse and could have let loose while I was in a tree stand and I could have wound up dangling with bits of bow in me.

I went to the local bow shop last Friday for new arrows and broadheads. While there I showed the owner of the shop my Martin bow. Turns out one of the limbs has a tiny crack. Didn't look like anything to me but he said not to shoot it that way. So now it's sitting in the shop waiting on new limbs from Martin. I was planning on hunting with my bow during modern firearm deer season, which of course starts in three days! Oh well, it will be interesting to see how quick the turnaround time is on it and I now get to be witness to the legendary Martin customer service. :)
I hope your Oklahoma trip turns out well.

Bobcat, 3 weeks before the season last year, my limb split right down the middle at full draw. It was an 8 year old Reflex. Out of production. Hoyt replaced it free, shipping and all, and gave me an upgrade for $75. I had the new bow with a week to spare and shot a Robin Hood in my first 20 minutes shooting it. If Martin lets you down, don't hesitate to go to Hoyt.

Well, I've got news to report. I'll probably start a new thread about it tonight but for now I want to say Lucky Shot Archery in Chehalis just called, and let me know my bow is ready to be picked up, with brand new limbs installed. I am simply amazed at how quick this all happened.
It was after 5:00 PM when I left my bow with Lucky Shot, last Friday, the 7th of October. Lucky Shot is CLOSED on Mondays. But somehow they got a hold of Martin, either on Monday or Tuesday, and Martin got new limbs shipped out and my two year old bow is now waiting for me with brand new limbs. It's been only 5 days and two of those days Martin was closed and the third day Lucky Shot was closed.
So basically in TWO business days, they got it all done! I just can't believe it. This is better service than you get from Leupold, and that's saying a lot.
Kudos to both Lucky Shot and Martin! I think I'll be spending my money with both of these businesses in the future, no doubt about it.

Very cool, Bobcat. That's something to take off your mind. Now, kill something with it! Hoo ah!

martin did me right when i noticed a crack last year on opening day. hopped in the car, drove to walla walla and walked out 20 minutes later with new limbs and my bow back to spec! now that they are using different limbs, cracks should be a thing of the past!

Thats great news. Get er tuned up and whack a nice one with it!
