well, by best pal in the world is gone from me now. my hound Bull jumped out of loft window in our log cabin, chasing a great pyrenese that was in our yard. he has been gone now since monday. been checking with animal control and checking the highway. he aint there. we live on a reservation, and i think he has ran off far into it and someone has kept him. my best guess. and its all private road and such. i tried looking and hollering for him. got some dirty looks... it would be easier to know if he was dead or at the pound.. but it really really sucks. he was my best pal.
-
I hope he turns up for you. If you can post a photo, I'll see if any of the houndsmen on that side of the state can keep an eye out for him. Is this the Plott?
-
yes, he is the plott. we are over here on the kitsap side. im almost certain he is being kept. i just know it. that dog could find his way home blindfolded.
-
Man that really sucks! I feel for you man :'(.I hope he turns up.

Posting pictures all around the neighborhood with a real good sob story does help. Ive done it. I even picked up a hound that lived in Olympia about 20 miles south by Tenino. Kept him for a month and had posters posted. The owner saw the poster and retreived the dog. 3 months later he showed up at my house again, all the way from Oly. That is a long way. Good thing he had a good nose . Good luck finding your buddy.
-
yeah, got the standard posters out. i really thank you guys for your thoughts. not much really gets me too down in the blues.
-
Hang in there, we have had pets return on their own after three long weeks.
I would repeat hit the pound, place an advertisement, posters, maybe a reward... hit it hard.
-
If he is licensed, then the pound will contact you. But check in with them every other day. If he is chipped, then chances are somewhere along the line it will be found out. Just make sure to report it to the officials that he is gone and to put him on the watch list. Posters work wonders.
My sheperd was gone almost a month the first time, and someone was keeping her. Another person recognized her from my poster and called Animal Control and they went and took her. Had me come down and identifiy her. All I did was walk into a room and she bolted across it and jumped on me licking my face. They said it was ovious she was mine by my description and her reaction.
Second time she ran off during a thunder storm (she hated it). She showed up at the pound about 2 weeks later and they called me to claim her.
I will be praying for you man!

what a great group of guys you are. you are all good caring folks, who are tops in my book. i know you guys wont run in to him, but i'll show a pic of my best bud.
-
Beautiful dog. Hope he is safe and I hope you find him soon. Good luck.
-
I'll let the other WA houndsmen I know about him and post his photo.

My wife and I had a shepard take off on us never to be found. We had posters up for months and quite a few calls but they were all dead ends. One lady did call and was very suspicous. She said she thought she had her and I said I would like to come see the dog and she said she would call me back. Well she did 2 days later and said it might be her neighbors dog. We had no caller Id and I was never able to get ahold of her. I know she has her and all I can hope is she has as good of life with her as she did with us! Good luck on getting your buddy back!

I work with a bunch of great guys who are doing patrols in that area. I will pass along the photo, and keep an eye out. I hope he returns to you soon.
