I have friends that did a few years ago. Like 25 or so. They launched out of riggins and went up river. If your hunting that area. Be very wise when it comes to running that type of water in a boat... They hunted Elk. They ended up filling 3 tags. One thing my friend said was there are some damn nice deer in the area though. Good luck.

Also, anyone know about camping on the river except in the designated campgrounds?

What part of the river, above or below Lewiston?
If you are looking at below you can stop in at the Army Corps of Engineers office in Clarkston. They can give you info about camping on Corps land and they have maps of ownership along the river.

Make sure that you are hunting public. I have seen a lot of people shoot their deer on private and quickly hop off the boat to claim the kill.
You better make sure you make a good shot because hoofin' it up the snake river breaks is not easy at all.

smartazz, where did you find the land ownership maps for along the snake? I want to take my dad bird hunting up there in Nov.
Thanks!

a few years ago I emailed the army corps of engineers and told them I was looking for maps that showed all the public areas for hunting. Told them I would pay for them if they could mail them. I got an email the next day stating the maps were on the way and no charge. 2 days later got a big manila(sp?) folder in the mail with all the army corps lands of washington. Pretty neat maps. they were just printed out but on 10x20 peices of paper.
