My brother was out hunting in White River today and came across a couple guys who said they were in Greenwater earlier this morning and saw a guy pulling out a big bull elk. He assumed the guy was part of the indian tribe because he seemed to be ok with hauling it out. Is there any season open right now for elk out there?

Tribal is open

Do you know where he saw them in the white river?
My buddy has that elk tag so I am just wondering the specfic area , If it is a place we have scouted or not. Thanks

The guys my brother saw in White river had seen the elk pulled out in Greenwater not white river. Good tag to have, our group has seen alot of elk out there in the archery and now rifle season.

I'm not worried about any of the bulls I'm watching, because none of them are close enough to a road for the Indians to kill, except one, but he's third or fourth on my list.

i watched 4 indians get out of there truck and haul a big 6x6 bull off the top of the 6050 at bridge camp.... HUGE 6x6... if that would be any area, private message me for more details, i watched them the whole thing but the shot... they seemed to be having it in there truck like a trophy and it showing to all of us like... haha look what we can do.... made me pretty pissed off, ohwell tho i guess... .big beautiful bull tho... :bash:

Well, I guess I can mark that bull off my list, crap. That's ok I expected all the nice bulls close to the road to get killed during deer season.

There is more :)

Just imagine how great that unit could be if the 11 tribes that have the right to hunt there also went by our rules. If they were held accountable for how many they take I believe it could be the best tag to draw on the west side. But since they get to have a turkey shoot in there for elk the game dept. needs to open that unit back up to a regular season. just my :twocents:

:yeah:

I am working up the 70 rd and it is like a race track up there with tribe hunters.
-
Yea i guess Greenwater is in the Whiteriver unit :bash:stupid, stupid :bash: no i didnt get a road number but, yea we have seen alot more elk in there these past few years but if we could only get the damn indians out of there the tag would be amazing to get.
-
There have been some really nice elk up high on the 72 and 74 roads. washouts have kept them undisturbed. would have been tempted to hit that area but I gotta better eastside tag.

The indians have killed some dandy bulls in the white river unit this year, I know of at least 3 different bulls all absolute toads killed by indians. One was in the watershed but supposedly he had a permit, which I would assume is true but who knows...

The greenriver watershed is highly patrolled, thank god. And the mucks do get to kill 6 bulls in the shed, they get how many we get that is the rule in there. The only reason there are elk in there now is they agreed to stop the slaughter they had did in the past.
